  • [Question] Star Wars Weekend questions

Has anyone visited during these weekends or participated? If so, what all is involved or going on? Are the lines for items long?

I'm thinking of going the weekend of June 1st and my parents want to go with me, I'm just worried they will be bored waiting in lines with me to get Duck stuff. We will also be spending a day in Magic Kingdom to celebrate their 35th anniversary, but wanted to do the parks together.

I've done SWW every year since 2006. It's a lot of fun. However, the lines for Star Wars stuff (especially the special merchandise, the characters, and the celebrities) can get LONG!

Just another thing to ask since I'm attending the first weekend of SWW... What should I expect? Exhibits? Shows, and so on?

          Re: Star Wars Weekend questions

They have all sorts of meet & greets throughout the park with various Star Wars characters. We're talking ranging from the usual Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, Chewbacca, R2 & 3PO and Ewoks to Emperor Papeltine (and his red guards), Anakin Skywalker (the guy they've had in the past is a dead ringer for Hayden Christensen and was SPOT ON in character), Mace Windu, Jabba's palace guards, Jango Fett, Boba Fett to obscure characters like Aura Sing and Kitt Fisto.

They also have various celebrities who have been part of either the movies or the Clone Wars TV series. Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok) are usually there, sometimes they get Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), the guy who voiced General Grevious... one year they got Jake Lloyd (young Anakin in Episode 1), the guy who played Boba Fett... last year they even got Billy Dee Williams! I think they even got Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher when they first started these events years ago. There are panel discussions, meet & greet opportunities (free but the tickets required "sell out" quickly) and shows.

And there's MERCHANDISE, MERCHANDISE, MERCHANDISE! They use one of the empty soundstages as the big "main" merchandise location, but the shop at the exit to Star Tours gets pretty packed too.
