[Question] POTC getting new stuff (mermaid?) in its queue?

I was just at MK and noticed parts of the queue were covered up. The cast members said they had no idea what was going on. I saw somewhere online that they may be adding a scene from the film with a mermaid (similar to technology of pirate at Pirates Laire in DL).

Does anyone know anything about this?

oh God, last september before i started posting i read disneyland was gonna get a similar treatment. my point is there's no mermaids coming... lol see the post from last september

The mermaid scene would be interesting but the ride would be better if they got rid of Jack not that I don't like him but when I go on the ride I try to ignore him. When the rumor for Disneyland started didn't they also rumor a loop and a jump over Club 33? LOL )

yes i remember that loop, i heard they took it out because i lady fell out of the ride and landed in a snake pit

Really? I heard that the ride for a while had a mermaid scene like the one in the movie and "attacked" a boat and a lady was so scared she died of a heart attack!!LOL

Good gravy, I hope it's just refurbishment and not another "enhancement." PotC already has one of the best, most interesting queues in MK history.

I suppose they could be putting in the infrastructure for XPass/Fastpass +.

Oh my. Please tell me this is not true. The Mansion was bad enough; they're now defacing the original themed queue and one of the best and most atmospheric queues on property with NexGen bullcrap? Unforgivable.

I'm not opposed to NexGen philosophically/categorically, but some of the implementations of it have been egregious. NexGen can be done tastefully (e.g.: Pooh, Space Mountain); if only WDW management cared enough to only implement it where/as appropriate.

well if they did the interactive queue in the switchback area prior to the themed part of the queue then i would be all for it or did minor tasteful tweaks to the themed queue to make it interactive but anything major i agree would be a bad call.

It's an interactive queue. I've heard of mermaids being added elsewhere on the internet, but I have a hard time believing that.

I wouldn't be against it if it doesn't take away from the charm of the original queue. For example, no screens.

I actually do the same. I'm not a big fan of putting Jack in the scenes. POTC the ride is and always will be first for me.
