  • [Question] Difficulty of Dance for Parade Performer Audition

I just graduated high school and I really want to be a parade performer. I have been dancing for 7 years and have been competing for 4 (so I know how to work a stage! ). Does anyone know how difficult the audition dances are? Lengthy answers are MORE than welcome!!

When I worked at Disney World we were on a color coded system. Your level of dance determines the color they give you. Disney World Parade department and character department are one in the same so you have to audition for characters and then you can bid for a performance roll. The computer will give you a selection of rolls depending on your level. I've performed both at Disneyland and Disney World. The dance routines vary from different routines they have in the park or something similar. They will usually take better dancers separately for harder routines to try out.

I'm not a dancer by any means, but if you know how to work the stage then that's what they're going to look at. The most amazing dancer can fall flat if they do not know how to work the stage. SMILE SMILE SMILE. If you mess up, it's ok! They will know you messed up, but it's the after that they're going to look at. But with any performance job it is a performance and talent, looks, height, etc all factor into the castings decision. Go into the audition with an open mind, see what it's all about. If you don't get chosen, don't loose hope! Take it as a learning experience. Break a leg!
