[Question] How long will Disney's Electrical Parade be at Walt Disney World?

After years of frugality, our hard work has finally paid off and the family has been able to save up enough for a trip to Disney :yea: We heard the parade returned and would love to see it again. I've read elsewhere that no end date has been announced yet, but does anyone know just how long it will be there? We arrive December 9th.

There are no plans to bring it back to DLR so I doubt it'd be back by your trip. Sorry bud.

I think someone was telling me that book for sale at WDW mentions the Spectromagic "returned" to the Magic Kingdom in Spring of 2013. That said I would think the internet chatter would see a speculation and rumors burst or two of what that means. I have not seem that yet so we shall see.... but I have heard of no plans for what will happen next to DEP. If you are coming to WDW in 2012, it will likely be here.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. I read a thread on here that said a souvenir book let the cat out of the bag that Spectro would be returning. That's why I was afraid it would be back before we got down there. Those SpectroMen creep me out to no end...

Spectro has always had rumors swirling around, like the rumor I heard that one of the warehouses holding it caught fire and damaged it... Who knows? Nothing official had been said for a while,so to the best of my knowledge it should still be there.

@DancinBelle love the profile pic! I haven't heard that rumor, but I have heard a few others about the floats still being in a warehouse at Disney World, and some people even claim they've seen CMs actively working on the floats. Also, I don't know about any part of Spectro being destroyed by fire, but I know that a few MSEP floats were.

There is a book being sold in WDW that says Spectromagic is returning after MSEP leaves, but leaves no mention of when. However, rumors in other places are hinting at March 2013.

Yeah, I've seen the souvenir book rumor all over the place. Whether or not Spectro returns in 2013 really doesn't bother me. I'm just thrilled to be able to see the Electrical Parade, even if they did replace the classic score with the godawful DreamLights one. I'm really bummed about that

I really hope the parade leaves there soon and returns to the West Coast. I would only hope it returns to Disneyland where it belongs, and not CA Adventure.

I've never been out West, but if I were to visit Disneyland, viewing the parade in its rightful place would definitely be something I'd want to do. That being said, I feel that the name should be changed back to the Main Street Electrical Parade. The current name is too generic.

They also need to put the Blue Fairy back as the first float. She was the parade's ambassador, so to speak. Tink doesn't belong there. Honestly, I kind of wish they'd back off the Tinkerbell bandwagon a bit. She's taking over virtually everything else in the parks as it is.

As far as your Dec trip, I'd say you're good to go. They wouldn't pull it from WDW without a big announcement and definitely not during the holiday season.

It honestly shocks me how little regard Disney shows for their own history sometimes. Though I disagree, I understand removing the Blue Fairy for purpose of "synergy" to promote an ill-conceived "franchise." But why in the world would they pay someone to destroy the quintessential float from the original Electrical Parade?? Especially as often as Disney is known to reuse parade floats?? At the very least, wouldn't the Archives want it?

What they choose to send to the Archives never makes much sense. When the Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management closed, they knew they wanted something from it. So they saved Uh-Oa's head. Not the whole figure, just the head. One of the maintenance guys from the Jungle Cruise was talking about sawing it off and sending it to California. He said it was a very weird experience.

That really is strange. I don't think anybody knows what they're doing in the parks anymore.
