[Rumor] Is Cars Land coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios?

While the world is captivated by the Olympic Games, it appears that another Olympic-sized competition may be going on between the two major theme parks in Orlando. Two years ago, Universal Orlando stole the spotlight from Walt Disney World with the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Theme park fans thought theFantasyland expansion was Disney's answer to Harry Potter. However, the DIS has learned of a rumor: Disney's answer may in fact be the opening of Cars Land at Walt Disney World.



This is strictly rumor at this point, but what we've heard is that Cars Land may be coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios, replacing the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. This show is apparently very costly to run several times a day, which may be one of the driving factors behind its removal. If more space is needed for the new land, the less-popular Backlot Tour may be the next to go.

Recently, there was a popular yet plausible rumor that Universal Orlando was expanding the Wizarding World of Harry Potter into the Universal Studios park. These rumors included a train that connected the existing land in Islands of Adventure with the new area, rumored to be developed on the former site of the Jaws attraction. Late in 2011, Walt Disney World announced that Avatarland was coming to Disney's Animal Kingdomand while this announcement was made to mixed reviews, many in the industry still questioned whether this combined with the new Fantasyland would be enough to steal Harry Potter's thunder. If this Cars Land rumor proves to be true, that may be enough to tilt the scales in Walt Disney World's favor.

Since this is only rumor for now, there have been no specific dates mentioned, but one would expect that it would be at least a 3 or 4 year process for plans, construction and so as to not poach guests from Cars Land at Disneyland.

If this is to give DHS a makeover on the same level as DCA, I'm for it, I just hope they keep the same quality as DCA's while at the same time add new scenes and stuff to keep it different from DCA's.

I don't know about cloning Cars Land 1:1, I think it would make for a more interesting scene to recreate the city streets seen in Cars 2, as in an arrangement of exterior sets where the film was shot, with all the details included, and for the ride we go on a race around the world.

I would hope it wouldn't be a 100% carbon copy, but I'd be really excited about it if it turns out to be true. Heck, even if we only get a mini-land with Mmater's Junkyard Jamboree and the Cozy Cone, I'd be happy. Throw in the Flying Tires and you've got a deal. DHS needs more family rides.

Ugh... People complain when they clone a single attraction... Why is no one upset they would even think of cloning an entire land? Not to mention my biggest problem with this park is that they continually throw movie based attractions/ lands in and say they fit thematically. DHS needs an identity, it needs cohesion, it needs something unique! Everyone talks about how DHS is a thematic mess, but how does adding Cars Land (a completely different themed land that doesn't match anything else in the park) fix the problem? Cars Land works in DCA (although it technically messes with the theme even there) because cars are such a huge part of Californian culture. I think adding Cars land would be very successful in the short term, but would make the park feel like an even bigger thematic mess than it already does. If they want to fix the park, then fix the major problem the park has!

Heres how I would fix it:

1. Remove the hat! It destroys any theme that Disney is trying to create! It's removal would allow a clear uninstructed view of the GMR and would help immensely to fix the thematic problems of the area. the whole area would recieve a minor facelift that would bring the theme closer to the golden age of movies (1930's 40's).

2. Update the GMR. The scenes have become very dates (along with the movies) and it really should be THE signature ride of the park like it once was.

3. Demolish the lake, sounds dangerous, Indiana Jones stunt show, and everything around it. The tacky lake thing (I don't even know the name of it) destroys any thematic cohesion that you would create by removing the hat. I would remove it and sounds dangerous then absorb this area into Lucas Studios.

4. Build a new water ride themed to Indiana jones in place of the lake, Sounds dangerous, and the Indiana Jones stunt show as part of the new Indiana Jones mini land. This park desperately needs a water ride (It is the park with the least shade and has no rides water rides? That makes no sense to me). A huge mountain for the attraction would be built, but to keep cohesion, a Hollywoodland sign would be placed on the Hollywood side of the mountain. The "Indiana jones mini land" would also include a forest jeep ride (think autopia with jeeps) and a new Adventurers club restaurant. This park needs more kid friendly rides so a Indiana Jones themed autopia fits perfectly.

5. Indiana Jones mini land would merge into a new Star Wars mini land with a setting more like Endor (but without the cheap set look). Star Tours would remain the same with only minor facade work. Add a lot of trees to the area along with a few chicken walkers and storm trooper walk around characters. The main new draw of the new area would be a new kiddy racing coaster themed to the speeder bikes used on endor in return of the Jedi.

6. Backstage areas behind animation courtyard would be removed and a new Toontown area would be placed behind the Little Mermaid building. The area would include 3 rides: Donald's squirt and splash boating adventure (aquatopia with water effects), Epic Mickey (the next generation of TSMM with animatronics and lots of projections), and Oswald's Trolley Trouble (a basic Trolly).

7. Sunset Boulevard would be rethemed to TV Studios. American Idol would be moved to the parking lot next to RnRC. The new courtyard would be renamed music television studios. A new Once Upon a Time Walkthrough attraction would be added along with a new show to replace beauty and the beast.

Do I think it needs all of this to fix it? No. Do I think it might even need more? Yes. But this just shows how big of a mess this park is.

This. This across the board. Also, I want a reason to go to WDW. If their new big thing is something I can just drive to at Disneyland, guess where I'm going to go? Come on WDW, do something big and amazing that hasn't been done on this continent!

Carsland should be exclusive to DCA. To add the same thing in DHS would not only feel repetitive, it would take the customer base away from the west coast that's been a struggle for Disney for years. Not to mention it would feel even more awkward and out of place to have this land in DHS. Where exactly would it fit amongst a park of themes that's already poorly jumbled together?

One.. everyone knows HP 2.0 isn't 'rumored' for Orlando.. its clearly coming (from all the construction info available).

The RS stuff is purely speculation and with nothing credible behind it. There are rumors swirling for DHS.. but put some meat behind it. Horrible piece...

It's just as monumental and famous as Harry Potter so why not make something unique to the resort and another reason for people on the West Coast to make the long trip all the way to the East Coast Making another Cars Land won't accomplish anything. Let's hope they don't put in a Toy Story Playland either. That'd suck haha.

It's just as monumental and famous as Harry Potter so why not make something unique to the resort and another reason for people on the West Coast to make the long trip all the way to the East Coast Making another Cars Land won't accomplish anything. Let's hope they don't put in a Toy Story Playland either. That'd suck haha.

I've been to Star Wars Weekends, I've seen the two hour line to meet Chewbacca. And no matter how badly George messes up the original movies, Star Wars has still survived and remains rather strong. if Star Wars had more representation then a tricked out simulator ride with pretty good capacity with it's six cabins, there could be a better balance in crowd flow that is currently tipped towards the Sunset Boulevard and Toy Story side of the park.

Just look at how Star Tours 2.0 is doing.

Seems to me Star Wars 2.0 in Florida is doing great, with capacity keeping up with demand. In California demand is far outstripping capacity, with 90 minute waits very common. I'd say Star Wars 2.0 is doing very nicely.

Carsland will not be coming to Disney Hollywood Studios anytime soon. I also would not get your hopes up for any kind of extreme make over for this park. The attendance numbers would have to drop drastically before that would even be considered. There is however a few smaller projects being considered for the park, but nothing has been greenlit at this time.

No the California one has average wait of 35-45 minutes currently this summer. Anyways I hope that DHS puts something in that makes me want to go to Disneyworld, and Carsland will not do that.

Cars Land coming to WDW has been a rumor since 2008 started by fanboys. They need something a little more original than cars land.
