  • [Other] OMG I Can Go To Disneyworld!!

I am so excited right now!! I just found out I can get travel dates that coincide with an extra $500. That $500 was the difference between going to Disneyland California and Walt Disneyworld.

I am from Australia and as you can imagine Disney has always seemed like such a lifetime away. Now I am planning for me and my brother to go to WDW from February 23-March 1.

I cannot contain my excitement at the moment. I am walking around the house faster than I ever have lol. I can't seem to wipe the smile off my face!!

What are recommendations for first time visitors to Walt Disney World?

Sorry for going on and on. I feel like such a silly school girl instead of a 25 year old lol. I guess Disney really does bring out the child inside us all.

Re: OMG I Can Go To Disneyworld!!

OMG have you tried to book a reservation at the new Fantasyland's Be Our Guest restaurant? I know it's book solid through mid February but I've gotten 2 different days on my 8 day vacation in late november. Oh wait.. you're going late february. You should call disney dining and find out which day you should start calling that morning of to book a table, credit card of course required to hold it, not to pay up front.

And Walt Disney World is simply amazing. Fantastic and worth every penny. Dont' let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Now comes the excitement of getting your luggage together, your clothes put together, buying disney stuff to take with you, maybe looking for your own unique autograph book versus the ones they sell in the parks, endless hours of researching the web and youtube for what to do and what you'll expect to see... oh my gawd you're going to go nuts for the next few weeks.

Then it'll calm down.... and once the new year hits the mad rush of "I'm going to WDW" starts up again.

You got loads of notes to write down, dining confirmations to plan, budget spending on what kind of things you want to buy at the park, don't forget about the pin trading addiction that will hook you in the minute you step on property,

Are you staying on property or off site hotel?

We managed to get a deal here in Australia for $1186- 6 nights 5 days simple dining included at the All Star Music Resort. This included a 5 day pass to WDW. I couldn't believe this amazing price.

The most expensive part of the holiday ends up being the price of the flights. That was what I needed the additional $500 for. But once I got this I knew we would be fine.

I wonder how I would go about booking Be Our Guest from here in Australia. I hope there are still places available for the end of February because I saw it on the website and that is something that I REALLY wanted to do.

I can't get over this excitement. My brother got his autograph book when he went to Disneyland in 2000 and I loved it so much I decided I wanted to get one when I go there too lol. Being my first Disney trip ever I want to get an official one haha and they are only about $6.95 anyway.

I will eventually calm down but for now I am too excited too.

Congrats! I'm a longtime Disneyland fan, but I've also been to WDW several times. That said, I agree with Micoofy Duck. WDW is awesome! It gets a lot of critisism on these boards, but it is an incredible place. You'll have a blast!

Rather than talk about the attractions, restaurants, etc. of the resort, I'll just mention this to you. February, as you know, is winter up here. Sunny Florida can get quite cold at times. Keep checking the weather so you'll pack correctly. You will likely need a jacket of some sort.

Walt Disney World has some great restaurants. You'll likely want to pay to upgrade your free dining to include table service meals. Having a rough plan as to where you'll be each day will help you plan restaurant reservations, and reservations are a must.

It's a big place and there's a lot to do, so planning can be quite useful. Personally, I find morning magic hours not really worth it, but evening hours can be quite beneficial. Some people will take advantage of morning hours, and park hop shortly thereafter, as that park may be busier than normal. Decide what makes sense for you.

The bus system works fine, but be prepared to spend time travelling, especially if you want to make your way to another resort, for dinner for example. A rental car will be useful, especially if you want use your time effectively. Also, you might want that rental car for...

Harry Potter. Do not miss Universal Islands of Adventure.

To what degree WDW is fantastic, amazing, and worth the price is a matter of opinion.

You are gonna love it! Especially if you've been waiting for so long!! And by then, the Fantasyland expansion should be almost done, except for the seven dwarfs ride. And yes, take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. There are days where parks are open til 1 in the morning. I can only imagine how excited you are, I've been to WDW over 80 times but that's because I live in south FL and my family are Vacation Club Members. But I still remember the first trip I went. Enjoy everything! and have a magical vacation

Trust me I am EXTREMELY excited. I have spent countless hours on the Disneyworld website every day since planning began. I am so happy that a good majority of the new Fantasyland expansion will be open by the time we go there in February. We almost couldn't have timed it better to go there.

Living on the other side of the world or in my case this time a 30 hour plane flight away, Disney always seemed like a far off dream. It feels so weird to be planning to go there in only six months!
