Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey is stealing the distinction of being the world's largest theme park from Animal Kingdom when it combines its theme park, water park, and safari experience into one large park. Hopefully Animal Kingdom can regain its distinction once Avatar opens. Take a look:

Pit could be three times the size of Animal Kingdom and it doesn't change the fact it's still not half the experience of Animal Kingdom. However those that love Six Flags more power to you

You know they wanted the biggest park and they would do anything for it.

Who cares about the size, AK might be the biggest of the parks in WDW but its still the only one we often skip... size doesn't matter its the attractions in the park that matter.

I like this line in the first article link:
"Never before have guests been able to experience a journey so close to that of a true African safari here in the U.S.,"

Uhm... what? The very sentence before mentioned Animal Kingdom. And what about that one in San Diego? Or Rhino Rally in Busch Gardens (which I know absolutely nothing about. I'm just assuming it has to do with a safari somehow.)

                  Good for them!

It's obvious Animal Kingdom is going to be a top experience no need to point it out to stick up for Disney. Animal Kingdom just seems amazing can't wait to visit 1 day, though I'd love to visit Great Adventure too!

What the San Diego Wild Animal Park should do is add a few rides, theme it up a little better, develop a bit more of the land, and it could take the top spot. The park itself is 1,800 acres, but no clue how much of that is developed for visitor access.

I don't know if you knew this but losing the title of "Largest Theme Park" will in literally no way diminish the quality of DAK.

Why add rides? It's a Safari/Zoo park, not a theme park, for gods sake.

Is Disneyland worse than WDW because it's bigger? I don't think so.
Epcot's parking lot was once the biggest in the world until IKEA made a bigger one. Does that mean they need to make the parking lot bigger? I don't think so.

                          Size doesn't matter.

Not to mention Six Flags is the worst "major" theme park operator. Disney and Cedar Fair blow them away.

Animal Kingdom looks great. I have no idea about this Six Flags but Im sure there will be many bare coasters and ungly cages for the animals.

Six Flags may be the biggest now, but I'm positive they won't pack their park with shows, rides, attractions, and animals like Animal Kingdom does.

Here's how you do it. Take your amusement park, water park, and drive through safari and just start calling it all one park. Forget the fact that this means that your parking lots are now directly in the middle of your new one park that just helps make it the biggest. For this very same reason, Great Adventure now probably qualifies as the poorest laid out park in the world. Seriously, who puts a parking lot in the middle of an amusement park? Is parking now part of the amusement? Should Disney sell Great Adventure those giant traffic cones from the Countdown to Fun parade?
It bothers me when people selectively edit quotes to support whatever point they are trying to prove.
