  • News "Selective demolition" for Wonders of Life pavilion

As reported on Stitch Kingdom today, "Walt Disney Imagineering filed a notice of commencement

It can mean a full bulldoze or partial. Anyone think this means there might be a big announcement by the time of the anniversary?

Maybe they will announce they are installing benches inside.

haha true, it could all just be that simple! Perhaps tearing out Body Wars to make more festival space? Though I would love to see the inside gutted and a new ride etc brought to that end of the park. Am I getting my hopes up? hehe

        Probably the truth.

But Body Wars was already gutted by Imagineering. So I really doubt there is anything left to Demo in there.

I would hope... but after the benches announcement, I have lost hope.

Great! This means they'll use the space for a new E-ticket and couldn't possibly mean that they're just going to remove old attraction infrastructure with absolutely no intention of replacing it with anything.

          Hahaha, well done sir.
I knew if this business was ever to get anywhere, if this business was ever to grow, it could never do it by having to answer to someone unsympathetic to its possibilities, by having to answer to someone with only one thought or interest, namely profits. For my idea of how to make profits has differed greatly from those who generally control businesses such as ours. I have blind faith in the policy that quality, tempered with good judgment and showmanship, will win against all odds.

Yay! More vacant space! This is what we pay for each year with the price increases!

Maybe they are taking the benches out of the old Cranium Command and Making of Me theaters to be used for Fantasmic!

Edit: Oh, Anicomical Players and Goofy About Health also had some sweet benches. Maybe management realized that they had a veritable bench goldmine over there.
It bothers me when people selectively edit quotes to support whatever point they are trying to prove.

Bench gold mine. That would be flipping hilarious If that is really where the benches came from!

Finally. At least they can get rid of that damn eye sore. I never cared much for that pavilion and I think having open space is much prettier than having that ugly thing sit there and rot away.

It is a selective demolition permit so it honestly might be removal of benches.

Imagine if they were using Body Wars to show a 30th Anniv retrospective movie on Epcot, complete with working simulators!

My guess is that the three theaters in the center of the space are being removed to open up the floor.

That is my guess as well. Disney has basically slated it as event space unless they can somehow find a sponsor. Removing those theaters would not only improve astethics (get rid of the carnival theme) but open it for more event space. Painting over the Body Wars mural, removing the Cranium Command sign, and getting rid of those theaters would definitely make it feel like a less temporary set up for Food and Wine festival.

The Wonders of Live pavilion was my favorite. Cranium Command and Body Wars were my two favorite WDW attractions (of course I was 11 the last time I was at WDW) but I do remember both very well.
