Re: First Test Track 2.0 ride Video hits the web

I think most people are referring to just the out-of-site back loop portion of the outdoor track when they refer to the bit they want to enclose. Just the part that goes backstage. The final loop that hugs the building is fine the way it is however.

If they enclosed it would have been that horrible looking crap. That would have been horribly intrusive with the sleek circular simplicity of the building, more so than the canopy.

They've done an incredible job, I'd even go as far to say that (tech aside) this could have easily been in the pack in '82. It just has that great EPCOT feel to it.

I don't know about that, I'm going to miss the loud noises of tools creating "music".

They made good use of those tree cardboard cutouts. Now they work. I like it.

I love the darker environment. It hides the fact that you're in a building which is something I just didn't like before.

Ah, that would indeed be a nice effect.

The new indoor portions show off some great use of screen/projection/lighting technology, something that has advanced a lot in the past decade. At least for me this does give my hope when looking forward to what can be done with "futuristic" theming.

Yes, and no. The things RSR and JTOCOTE do soo well is immersion. When riding both rides you are pretty much encapsulated with the theme. The main problem with the new Test Track is that the real world theme of the first ride, and the new computer-ized theme of 2.0 clash soo badly. Especially in the transition from the crash test to the speed portion. If they wanted this ride to be as immersive as RSR and Journey they should have enclosed the speed portion and continued the theme of the computer, some neon strips and pitch black could have been used to even make the ride feel faster than it really is. A missed opportunity if you ask me.

But the indoor portion is very cool. It really gives me high hopes for the Iron Man attraction at DL.

Please pardon me while I pick up my jaw from the floor and lodge it back into it's place.
This is one of the only good "upgrades" to a ride we've seen in a while.

That...was...AWESOME!!!!! Now the ride truly comparable to RSR and Journey to the Center of the Earth. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the whole restoration of the purpose of Futurworld.

That was eerily close to how 80's Epcot felt.

    I think I like.
