  • Trip Report Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Trip Report

Recently I flew to Orlando for the opening of Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin for the Unofficial SeaWorld Podcast coverage. I was on a very limited schedule but I couldn't leave Orlando without at least visiting Disney Parks. I had about three hours in the morning before our media event at SeaWorld, so I chose to go and visit the Magic Kingdom for those limited hours. I managed to squeeze a few rides in, starting with Space Mountain, moving through Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion and ending with the People Mover before we had to exit the park and head over to SeaWorld. Here are a few pictures from that trip...

    Cleaning and repairing the facades...

Always enjoy reading the windows and seeing the classic names...

    Love Space Mountain...

Love that the Tiki Room is back to normal...

Light at the end of the tunnel...

    Lady in Red...

Don't see this at Disneyland anymore...

    Love the Haunted Mansion...

    ...and the graveyard.

I find it entirely bizarre that they did such a fantastic Tangled facade and all they actually built was a bathroom..

It looks really neat but unfortunately is some of the worst forced perspective work I've ever seen Disney do.

One unfortunate thing I've noticed about WDW MK is the acres of space they've dedicated to stroller parking now and the plague of strollers that seem to have infested the park. Seems like you can't turn around these days without running into a stroller or other assisted movement device.

Another thing that bothers me about Disney Parks these days are the incredible prices. They are out of control in my humble opinion. I went to have breakfast and for two croissants and two drinks it was $20.00. A regular breakfast of eggs, bacon, roll, potatoes and a drink for two only cost $22.00 at Universal. Seems like there is something wrong with this picture to me.

Regardless I enjoyed my few hours at the Magic Kingdom. I will be posting trip reports on SeaWorld and Universal as well soon.

Nice pics ! I agree. The baby strollers are out of hand. I know one couple that had no kids, but took a dog stroller to carry their stuff.
