  • [Question] Finding the pleasant side of the most crowded days in the parks?

Out of Animal Kingdom, Epcot, DHS, and MK...where would you go when you knew you were visiting on the busiest days? What park has the most promise for being pleasant even with crazy crowds?

Someone recently asked for advice on visiting Disney World right around Christmas. Specifically, which park is best on the busiest day(s) of the year, especially when your family has older members? I would say avoiding Magic Kingdom on Christmas day would help avoid the worst crowds, but how do the other parks line up?

What do you do to keep your days in the park magical, even amidst human traffic jams and countless tired, grumpy families? Visiting in the later hours? Taking it slow?

I think Animal Kingdom is best. It has more room and a lot of people visit it last.

All the times ive been to Animal Kingdom, ive never felt crowded. Ive never really had to wait too long in lines, either, except the coasters. When im down there, I tend not to go to the parks on weekends.

We'll be there for Christmas this year, a first for us, and are planning on being in the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day knowing it will be insanely crowded. We just think that's the park to be in on that special day.

Check out the website easyWDW.com. They have monthly info about crowds and what park is least crowded daily.

Epcot is so huge and spread out that you can almost always find some relatively quiet corner to escape, even on the most crowded days. And it's got the best holiday decorations, so it's the one probably most worth braving the Christmas crowds for anyway. Especially if you don't have to do Soarin'/Turtle Talk/Test Track, or can do them first thing in the morning, then go over to World Showcase as soon as it opens, spend the afternoon/early evening there, then head back to Future World while everyone else is eating dinner in World Showcase and do more over there once the lines are shorter.

Animal Kingdom would probably be the second choice, since there's a lot you can walk through at your own pace, especially if it's crowded enough that they add extra shows of Lion King and Nemo so you don't have to miss those.

Between the Studios and Magic Kingdom on a crowded day...maybe Magic Kingdom since there's the train, peoplemover, boat, and a few other things like that, and they do usually add more pop-up entertainment on busy days.

With advance reservations, a busy day is also a great time for Cirque du Soleil, since there's only so many seats, since you already have your seat reserved, and for eating at the resorts at off times, since they will be staffed up for the crowds but most people will be at the parks during the day. Or if you can get your reservations early enough, it's a good day for something like the Animal Kingdom Safari, behind the scenes tour, etc. - again, since the capacity is limited, those won't be any more full than usual.
