  • [Question] Star Wars weekends: are costumes allowed?

I'm planning my senior trip this yea, and I would love to go to Star Wars weekends.
At the same time, a goal of mine is also to join the 501st (a Star Wars costuming group) and I may have my costume done by them.
Do they allow Costumes during Star Wars weekends? I know they do not during normal park days.

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" .
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Mathew 19:25-26

Yes, but very very very very few people dress up and most of the tiny amount of people who do were kids.

I suggest you go for it.

Next year I'm trying for a summer internship at Stark Industries.

        I definitely will then! Thanks!
For all who are curious, I'm hoping to have my costume done by then (because some of the parts an take up to 3 months to get here). My costume is actually a Darth Vader costume from the Empire Strikes Back, I'll stand around 6'6 in the suit, and It's also a $3,000 dollar costume.... I really wanted to do something big this year since I was graduating, and this costume is it!

Remember the costume guidelines. You can not cover your face fully. Your eyes must be visible. That isn't ideal for Lord Vader so try to improvise a bit on the mask.

Lol, I think my improvising will be me carrying around the helmet except for if I want a picture in front of something. No way I'm actually going to mess with the mask (it's actually taken from one of the molds used to make the original helmet from the empire strikes back).

Maybe you could leave the mask and helmet out and powder up your face, add some fake wounds and go as me without my helmet. That way you won't break the rules with cosplay.

Though sometimes, they ask you not to pose with guests for pictures.

What? I've seen a TON of adults in costume the last 2 years I've attended Star Wars Weekends.

They definitely tell you not to pose for photos (unless they're your own) and no signing autographs. Last year I saw a guy dressed as Jack Sparrow Jedi and he was constantly asking people to please not take photos of him because he didn't want to get in trouble and be asked to leave the park.

That's not a bad idea.... actually, I might carry the mask around and then do some makeup prosthetics like you said as well, so that it actually makes sense.

What about posing with Cast members though? Like say I decide not to do the makeup and I just carry around my helmet until I get to where I can have my picture taken with a cast member, and then I put my helmet on for the picture.... would that be breaking any rules?

I'm not sure, maybe if they ask for a picture with you it'll be fine.
                      Still not sure though.

No no, not with guests (don't worry, I won't take pics with guests... can't risk that) but with the people there who actually work for Disney who are dressed as like Stormtroopers and Clone troopers and such, can I take pics with them with my helmet on?
