  • News It appears that Push the talking garbage can is ending :(

There are stories all over the net and twitter that the days of Push the talking garbage can is coming to an end. If this is true this horrible.. I loved this gimmik. It was always fun and seeing a child's reaction to it was always a cool thing to see.

Here is a link to one of the many places reporting this.

ORDDU: Personally, I won't be sorry to see it go due to the fact that it was often a source of annoyance. It clogged up walkways too much, depending on where it was being performed. People would gather around and make it very difficult to get where you wanted to go.

To me that is the case anywhere you go. There are always the people that walk so slow you want to slit your wrists. At least this was a fun character and always did a great job making all conversations very personal. I have even seen Push used for proposals.

ORDDU: Really? It was used for proposals? That's interesting. It seems as though when this concept first started up it was performed in a more out of the way spot which didn't clog up the walkways so much. Over time it was performed in the most inappropriate places--like the main walkways in Tomorrowland.

I have only seen Push at Downtown Disney. It caught my mom as we came out of Planet Hollywood a couple years ago. I was lucky to catch it on film. I had never seen Disney do anything like that and kept trying to figure out who was behind it. lol!

I will punch an otter if PUSH leaves, and I don't think that's something Disney wants on their hands. So, you know, he better stay.

I didn't know PUSH was still there. I was even surprised to see him around a couple years ago.

Does anyone remember WDW trying the talking palm tree out in front of Animal Kingdom? Same concept but as a little moving potted tree? :P Now that was kind've ridiculous. PUSH was cute though.

That was Wes' Palm..... Even PUSH in Anaheim's Disneyland knew of him.

Well it's stupid that they wouldn't "PUSH" for 20 years as a milestone.

Anyways the blog you mentioned just posted...

"Update on PUSH the Talking Trash Can
                    2/7/14

Per Jason Garcia and Matt Mauney of the Orlando Sentinel: “Disney spokesperson says there’s “nothing to” rumors that PUSH the talking trash can is getting laid off. Says PUSH “isn’t going anywhere”.”"

Thanks for laying that to rest Micoofy Duck.

I've always enjoyed seeing Push. The look on little kids faces is priceless when he interacts with them.

ORDDU: A cast member friend of ours also concurs that it was just nasty rumor that Push would be discontinued. So guests will still be able to talk trash with the can...

Inside the Magic Reported today that PUSH was indeed removed perminately from the entertainment options. This is not very good in terms of public relations.

Well if that's the case then I guess we'll see PUSH over at Universal Studios. I'm sure they'll welcome him with open arms and TRASH.
