  • [Question] Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - Cost-Cutting at its Worst?

I had high hopes for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction. However, this recent still photo taken during a recent ride testing is shocking:

While the rock work looks great, it appears that the Imagineers opted for plywood cut-outs (similar to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride) instead of animatronics!!

Must we go to Tokyo Disneyland to experience the best Disney attractions?

I honestly believe that cut out is a place holder, there's still a lot of work going on in that picture and if you watch the new onride video you can see props and possibly animatronics all covered up for safe keeping.

So be careful judging a ride from simple construction pictures.

I think it's very early to presume on the ride based on that video - no show lighting, no music/audio, no animatronic figures of the dwarves (which are guaranteed) working, no final props visible. I am skeptical they'll have plywood cutouts indeed as final elements- if they do when it's up and running for the public, then indeed cry foul by all means.

most likely placeholders. and even if they aren't is it really that big a deal? i see plywood cutouts of a deer and a mine train in that picture, not any dwarfs which will obviously be the main show of the ride.

seems like you're jumping to conclusions to slander the ride.

          I second that.

This is not unusual when designing attractions.

In the video it appears the AA bases are covered up. I suspect they are keeping dust off them and the AA will be installed later.

Remember, it's still in the testing stages. However it still baffles me that it took nearly 3 years to build this. A relatively better themed Barnstormer.

well i would say this is on a different level then barnstormer clearly but from a basic track perspective i see what you mean. the reason it took so long was first off because it was a unique idea designed after the fact, its much faster to build a clone like mermaid then a new experience, especially one that needed to be designed while the other projects were already in construction. also its kind of in the middle of an area so they didn't really have the luxury of just shutting off access once the new land opened up. they needed to bring big pieces and do a lot of major construction involved after park closing.

The word you are looking for is libel, not slander. And neither would apply here as the person is clearly stating their opinion based on the facts as they perceived them. There was no attempt made to mislead the reader.

Not even really cheap rides like Monsters Inc use cutouts anymore man.

...Yeah, also the lighting scheme is terrible and that red extension chord across the show scene totally doesn't fit the theme.

You know this thing isn't finished, right?
It bothers me when people selectively edit quotes to support whatever point they are trying to prove.

That’s part of the new Seven Dwarves Zip Line.

Well, I will say this. It's better than the proposed Princess meet and greets when FLE was first announced
