  • [Question] 1st Trip to WDW - Insider tips on Hotels?

    Hi all!

I might be taking my first trip to WDW in November. I'm wondering if anyone knows any inside tips on getting discounts at the Grand Floridian? My thought is since this will most likely be my first and only trip to Florida (I'm from California), I should stay there (it seems so beautiful).. that said, it will end up costing more than my tickets and flight combined!!

So my questions: 1) Anyone have insider tips/tricks for getting that hotel at cheaper rates? (makes me wish I was attending a conference... seems to always be the best prices!). 2) If i do end up paying full price, is it worth it? Or am I being crazy?

    Thanks for any help!!!

I would love to stay at the Grand Floridian. All I can recommend is to keep checking the Walt Disney World website for their special offers. November is a ways away, so you may not see any special offers for your dates until a few more months from now. I stayed there in 2006, but it was just for a few nights. I did a split stay staying at Caribbean Beach for 6 nights, followed by my stay at the Grand Floridian.

Some people purchase Annual Passes, as a way of getting a discount. Not sure if that really works well, although Annual Passholders do get offered Discounts.

I would call the Grand Flordian the flagship resort.

But it's not my favorite. If you have non park time you can visit the lobby and grounds, of many hotels.

I would consider any of the other MK resorts to save money, and the Contemporary has the best views, water all around.

The Grand Floridian has a DVC section now. You could try going to sites where DVC member will sell/rent you their points to book a stay. It's a long shot because the Grand Floridian DVC is relatively new and therefore quite popular. Make sure you get points from someone who has Grand Floridian as their home resort otherwise you won't get in.
