  • [Question] Huge Phone at Epcot around 1998

Does anybody remember where it was in Epot?...I was trying to remember and it's been bugging me...Thought I would get on here and ask...I think AT&T sponsored it....It was a real working phone because we called my grandparents on it...It was like in a glass room with the huge phone in there.

AT&T had one of these at Innoventions in Disneyland, called the "Colossal Communicator". It was part of the "Webopolis" exhibit, which included hopscotch and a theater show about the Internet. I'm fairly certain AT&T had a duplicate exhibit at the exit to Spaceship Earth in Epcot. Both exhibits were taken over by Siemens in 2005.

      Yeah. Spaceship Earth.

And basically where the Buzz Lightyear gift shop is now at Disneyland but I think the old shop stretched a little more to the left.

Sounds like it was part of the AT&T Global Village post show after you finished riding Spaceship Earth.

I never heard of it before. Does anyone have a picture of it?

That's a later one I think.. The one that I remember growing up looked like a giant payphone keypad, not a cell phone.

I'm trying to remember it, but I just can't place it.

Like Aimster said, was it in the AT&T Global Village?

I actually have video of this on my personal YouTube page, but have not made this public for obvious reasons. It was basically a speaker phone inside a glass enclosed room.

I've just stumbled across this video on YouTube and what do you know.. there's that oversized phone. It was in Innoventions '94.

                      Its at 23:06

Ha! I wonder how many times kids called 911 on this phone!
