  • [Question] Have you ever had to be evacuated off of a ride?

This has happened to me twice, and it's always a memorable, fun experience (oddly, a CM on the "Keys to the Kingdom Tour" told me that many guests COMPLAIN about this, saying that it "Ruins the magic")- Indiana Jones at Disneyland is probably my favourite experience at that whole park (it was 15 years ago), and a month ago I got stuck on The Haunted Mansion and got to walk through the graveyard scene with the lights on as a result. It's like a special Behind The Scenes tour! Has anyone else had this happen to them?

While to most guests it would seem like a inconvenience, I've always thought it would be interesting to having to evacuate a ride, especially on a ride like the Haunted Mansion. It hasn't happened to me, but I know that it's happened to others and have gotten in trouble trying to take video of it. It would be interesting to hear other people's experiences.

ORDDU: My sisters and I had to be evacuated from the former People Mover Ride back in 1987 when it was still up and running. It happened on a day in late March while it was beginning to sprinkle just a bit. Fortunately we're not the sort of witches who melt when we get wet. However, I almost melted away when I saw how gorgeous the male cast member was when he came to 'rescue' us. I don't even recall how we got down off the platform. The only image I have is of a gorgeous hunk with blonde hair...

my sister and i were evacuated off the matterhorn. the other people in the bobsled were really mad, but we both though it ADDED magic, rather than spoiled it... like our own private tour.

I did on the H.M. Got stopped in the door knocker hallway. Before the lights came on, it was alittle strange in there, but , they led us out, and only one person was heard to be beefing, saying they were sueing Disney.....lol

I was on Pirates, it was pretty funny they had to have some poor guys come out in hip waders and push the boats along to an exit position. I thought it was neat but could see some people complaining I guess, if you had say a young child with you might ruin the magic for them or if its a one time experience like it unfortunately is for some people and you miss half the ride that would suck.

Technically, Universe of Energy at Epcot last year, but it was very lackluster because were in the final theatre room before you go back to the room where you started. So all the ride vehicles were already by the main exit of the ride so they just got everyone off and only missed the final part of the show (which is only a few minutes anyway). I said to the CM by my ride vehicle as I got off, "Universe of Energy ran out of energy apparently. How ironic!" The CM cracked up laughing.

I've been stuck on other rides (Spaceship Earth, Carousel of Progress) but never been evacuated. Shame because I keep wanting it to happen!

I can't remember it happening at WDW, but a few times at Disneyland. My favorite was when the People Mover stopped at the front of Tomorrowland, just as the Electric Parade came by. I got to sit and watch the whole parade from my private "balcony" before the cast member came by and escorted us off the ride to a nearby exit.

Re: Have you ever had to be evacuated off of a ride?

I've had 2 evacuations experiences, one being at Test Track and the other being Kali River Rapids. Test Track was a somewhat enjoyable one to go behind the scenes. The only positive of the Kali river rapids experience was I didn't get wet. We were stopped by an emergency gate prior to the first drop. We were stranded for nearly 45 minutes with a dysfunctional family. Finally they decided to drain the water so we could evacuate which was another long process. We then had to walk across the rafts to reach the stairs. It wasted time and there wasn't much cool to see. We did recieve fast passes to ride any ride which we of course used for Everest.

I don't think I have... But I do remember being on the people mover going through the space mountain part and the lights were on... It was so cool! Don't remember much cause it had to have been 1993 or 95 and I hadn't been on space mountain then.

Is it true that if Space Mountain goes down during the day, you can get on TTA and pass through SM with the lights on?

You might but they have screens up now as you pass by that it is hard to see anything let alone if the lights were on.

You can still see some of it when the lights are on. I took these photos August 2013:
