The newly refurbished IASW at the MK threw it's doors open today at 2:55pm for a sneak peek soft opening, much to the delight of the crowds visiting the MK today.
I was there as the whole thing unfolded (I know...I have no life).
I think you all know everything about this refurbishment, so I will be brief.
The biggest change is at the boarding area. Much to the approuval of many long time Disney Fans, the Mary Blair facade has finally made it's way to Florida, albeit, in a smaller scale (it was there before but mostly on painted flats in wild 70's colors). Now we have a smaller version of the clock to entertain us (no parading kids though..) and blue skies above. Gone are the colorful fountains as you started your journey. Gone also is the Sun-like sculpture that hung in the celing for about a decade or so. The entire boarding platform now looks brighter and a bit more compact than before, but much more kinetic with all of the moving props. Even the music here (and throughout the entire ride) sounded superbly clear.
Once inside the attraction, not much has changed. The dolls are sporting clean fresh costumes. Everything looks newly painted. ..and the music sounds great and slightly different from what I have always heard. Not sure what version it is..as I usually do not keep up or follow with that type of information.
All in all, the ride looks nice, and the boarding area is a most welcomed change. Enjoy the photos (some photos were blurry due to shooting with open lense, from moving boats. Hopeless, even with a tripod)
