  • [Rumor] Possible Concept Art for Frozen ride at Epcot

According to Timekeeper on WDWForums, he claims that he has a source in imagineering that gave him some concept art photos for the new Frozen ride at Epcot. Do you think these photos are legit? Are you more excited or disappointed for the Maelstrom redo after seeing these photos. Discuss.

Still not happy that Maelstrom is becoming a Frozen ride.

I doubt that Imagineering would leak things like that unapproved. I really hope this doen't come to pass because actual regional myths belong in the world showcase not shoehorning a princess property where it doesn't beong.
The fountain of youth really is in Florida... thats why they built Walt Disney World where they did.

Legit? No. Disney's concept art doesn't look poorly photoshopped like that stuff.

          1) agreed with the consensus, no this is not legit concept art. it is not watermarked nor is it officially released by the company. and it looks like cheap photoshop.

          2) Im depressed that this is actually coming to be. I would like an updated new malestrom but thus far it seems pretty clear that the country of Norway is not willing to put up the money to save the pavilion and disney will be injecting more characters and less learning into the world showcase.

Yeah characters from one of the worst story lines for a movie they've ever made... At least I'll get to ride it one last time next week

Yeah that's no concept art. Disney always released actual art, usually digital paint these days, never some photoshop piece.

For starters, even if they did, they wouldn't use a stock photo of guests on the attraction from the early to mid-'90s.

Looking at the thread on WDWMagic where these came from, it appears that they are meant to be a joke.

ORDDU: My sisters and I hate to see Maelstrom go away. Much as we loved FROZEN, it doesn't belong at Epcot as an attraction. It belongs, instead, at the Magic Kingdom.

ORWEN: But the Disney company is going to do whatever they want instead. Epcot just isn't Epcot anymore.

Is the name slated to stay the same? Or would it change to correspond with Frozen.

No one was up in arms when Donald & the cabelleros invaded Mexico.

There are plenty of people who dislike Gran Fiesta Tour. The Norway Pavilion is also different because it is on track to have very little to do with Norway. Part of a gift shop and a snack counter are hardly enough to constitute a pavilion.

Disney characters don't belong in World Showcase.

i wasn't really thrilled about the three Caballeros, but it is explicitly a movie for Mexico and South America. Arendelle to Norway is a very, very, very flimsy connection at best. Three Caballeros, the movie, was made for the region, featured characters from Mexico (not a fictional universe based on it), and revolved around animators visiting the region. In a way, it's more of a kids travelogue than a feature film (especially the first one).
