  • The Lost Horizons

Many of you remember Horizons at Epcot which opened on 1983 and closed early 1999 shortely before Test Track opened.Does anyone have any photos or remeber this great attraction which was replaced by Misson:Space which opened October 20 2003.

I remember, and still miss Horizons. The smell of the orange groves, the animatronics, and the fights my family used to have over which ending to chose...Ah memories.
    It's a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah...Tip for Today!

It's amazing how long it took disney to kill such a lovely ride.... GE left sponsorship in 93.. it closed in 94.... reopened when WOM was getting revamped into Test Track... and when Energy was turned in to Ellens energy...

It remained open untill Test Track was running for guests.. then slowly it dissappeared.. untill one day when the sign dissappeared and the wall came up...

starting a 3-6 month demolition project.

(whats funny if how the ride was closed.. and some CMs would get inside and have a walking tour of it... and take photos for their scrap books...)

We happen to have a Horizons archivist in our midst: Planet7. He maintains a website and Yahoo message group, The Horizons Tribute. His MiceChat profile:

Horizons was pretty awesome. When I worked at EPCOT '94, I couldn't leave the park without riding at least once. I really miss the "old Future World".

My husband and I really miss that ride. We would end our day on that ride. It was nice and relaxing. The memories we have of that ride, the good ol days.
