I'm torn. I think it looks cool, but then it goes against the theme in a way - the facade is meant to be understated and clean, hiding the attraction inside - sort of like the Haunted Mansion facades over the world (bar DLP).

Speaking of DLP, their PotC also has a very non-clean facade, and I think this is trying to emulate. It will look cool - but it goes against the theme.

    Whaddya think?

I like it, and I think it fits for Adventureland. It would never fit in New Orleans Square at Disneyland, however.

        I agree.
And I don't like making the main entrance the side entrance as opposed to the front one.
And it cost Peg Leg Pete his life...so I am against it too.

          Re: New Pirates Entrance

Actually, most guests enter through the side entrance. There is also a major issue of guests not being able to find attractions in Adventureland. This should fix the problem.

As for Peg-leg Pete... get a grip people! You're complaing about the loss of a parrot. I can't imagine how bad it was when Barker Bird went away from the Tiki Room. Ugh.

I agree, freaking out over a fake parrot that was dirty and needed major work...

I have a pretty clear memory and I can't even remember where this parrot is.

Is this art for both DL and WDW? Because enterance works for WDW... but not DL.

                  Re: New Pirates Entrance

I like the concept art. I think it fits the pirate theme very good will improve the entrance in my opinion. As of before the refurb, the queue was very nice, but the entrance was very bland & understated. I like the new theme better.

Then maybe the average guest IS getting as bad as WDW1974 suggests...

Hey! This is an important part of my childhood being destroyed here (well, I am a fan). Bill I'd expect more from you. You know damn well that any little thing can upset us Disney fans, and basically when it upsets us there is no fixing it. I happened to like Peg-Legged Pete and see no need for him to be removed. I will continue to repeat this in every discussion, much like an overly obsessed Disney fan is expected to do. If that is a problem, then just re-install my parrot.

I'd like to say as a one-time visitor that I thought MK's Adventureland was pretty good (of course, I didn't see the Tiki show, but all things else considered) but that the Aladdin carpet ride obscures sightlines thanks to it's unfortunate location.

                          Re: New Pirates Entrance

The "wall" of Adventureland which has pirates, jungle cruise, and Swiss family on it all has that theme.

Sort of a "jungle with ship wreck junk used to build thing because wood is sparse" type idea. Even moreso, recently they redid the planters around swiss family to have more "found wood" elements as the backs of the chairs and such. Ever notice the cannons hanging out in the planters? Or the other odd wood-ship piece here and there?

                          It fits, it's ok.

I can't imagine any guest being (well, yes I can but I don't really want to rant about the sorry state of humanity) STUPID enough to not find Pirates or any other Adventureland attraction. They are all right there and nothing is tucked away off in a corner.

I am sorry to see the parrot gone ... he was actually finally repaired and in good working order for the last year or so.
