        That's Disneyland.

I don't think they shoot at the hippos anymore, but I don't remember.

depends on the skipper.. technically they shoot in the air to scare them away.. sometimes they hot a hippo in the air.. sometimes they make one go to sleep... lol

We got a different Trader Sam animatronic, that's pretty much it... and we have a temple scene that DL's doesn't have.

Oh yeah, skippers still shoot at the Hippos, some shoot at the water near a hippo... or they shoot in the air at the "tree hippos". hahaha

The question was has Jungle Cruise at Walt Disney World been the same show for 35 years now or have they ever changed anything?

Like Disneyland in the 90s, the boats and queue have gone through changes. The queue is much the same as the one at DL, except with some prettier artwork, and some more props inside including a crate full of jungle finds addressed to be shipped to the Adventurer's Club in PI.

The Jungle Cruise has gone through many changes, including the replacement of Trader Sam with Chief Nami, the addition of a downed airplane, random props, transition music, the removal of the amazon rainforest canopy, (which I still miss) and the script has been re-written a couple of times. Though most CMs change the script around anyway. The actual boats have been changed to the more rough look, the entrance has been completely changed, the costumes have changed, Shrunken Ned's Junior Jungle Boats was added outside, a new sign was installed at the stairs, and the elephants were re-programmed. Various lighting chages and rehabs have happened as well. And the line queue has gone through countless updates.

Well Bill, you beat me to it. But in true TDLFAN sarcasm.... all I have to add to that is... "however, after all the changes they have done (including changing the look of the boats to the similar safari ones at DL and TDL), the ride still looks it's age." If only they went in and did a real refurbishing from the *technical* point of view, adding some of the enhancements from DL and HKDL... That would make our JC great!

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention these. How interesting to run into my old coin-operated friends that used to live in a corner of the Disneyland Hotel marina. I miss puttering them around at the Hotel.

It seems to me that WDW always gets the raw end of the deal... JC is great anyway, but it seems like all the other versions get better updates. It's the same with Haunted Mansion... DL's was better than ours to begin with, yet they're getting this awesome new update whereas I haven't heard any plans for ours yet.

yes, unfortunatley I haven't heard about any updates for our Mansion either. But when they did the minor refurbing in November and changed clothes on the dancers, one of the lucky ghost ladies got a Belle dress!

I remember hearing the many complaints of the changed skipper costumes, especially because of the jacket, since it provided no warmth when it was cold out.

And Mitsukai- I totally agree that WDW gets the raw end of the deal. We're supposed to have so many hippos, about 13 I believe, and last time I was there, I think I saw only six. The amount of animals just keep dwindling down because they decidedly take too long to repair them. Sometimes, I think they really don't care all too much.

Heck, look at POTC, it was in severe need of a refurb, and they only now decided to go ahead and do it because of all the new additions. If there isn't some big force to refurb, they simply won't because of budgeting.

                              It's sad.
