This was posted on Laughingplace.com by poster ssWEDguy:

    >>>On Memorial Day this year the Army's Golden Knights will skydive and parachute into Epcot at noon.

In the MK the daily 5pm retreat will be an extended Memorial Day version, including choral music, bands, orchestral music, and special presentations<<<

Parachuting into EPCOT huh? That'd be cool to see.

And a longer Flag retreat is a nice thing.

I'm glad Disney still wishes a Merry Christmas and celebrates America. There is only so much PC for them in the parks. A Memorial Flag Retreat is a very nice thing. . Bravo.

Ok, I took my own advise and did it myself... took pics with my cell... Here they are. Simple ceremony, about 20 mins long... lots of american music (God Bless America, Star Spangle Banner, This land is your land...etc etc) by Voices of Liberty and the WDW Marching Band. Lots of well intentioned speeches about the sacrifices made by those who served and fell in the name of our nation, and those fallen heroes deserve each and every bit of this tribute and respect. Yet, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth that so much ado is made about "our freedom" and "equality for all" when I can't still marry my partner and am put down for my sexual orientation, or when we still look at other members of our society in distrust, just because they wear middle eastener clothing or simply because they look different. Whatever.. this nation will never be truly "free" of those demons, no matter how many men and women spill blood and die abroad. The ceremony of course was initially briefly delayed due to microphone problems, and then... the military man lowering the flag lost his hat when the wind blew it away... but no major incidents.. Of course, I kept waiting for the Thunderbirs fly over the MK or at least a white dove release (I know.. they don't do those anymore) to symbolize what we as a nation want most: Peace.
        Here are the photos...

I was also at EPCOT this last weekend, although for work reasons. I was at the Garden Railway Booth as our official company representative. I did get some time to take pictures though. I think I got this Flickr thing straightened out...

I swear I see the shape of Goofy skydiving in that cloud. It was a fun little display, but the plane passing over and over again kept me standing around for 10 minutes waiting since I didn't know what time it would exactly take place.
