  • Which do you use to keep cool inthe parks?

Which did you find most useful in the heat?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I've seen recommendations for:
    1. cooling bandanas
    2. spray handheld fans
    3. misty mates
    4. mini fans

among others. I'm curious to find out what everyone has taken, what everyone has used, and what they prefer.. I mean I don't wanna have to go buy all of them!

PS: Yes we're going to be bringing water bottles and sunscreen, as we ARE native Floridians (for the most part)... I'm not looking so much for tips on keeping cool (I've already scoured a number of websites) as I am looking for feedback on the items mentioned...

    Thanks in advance!

We usually just sneak thhrough the shops when we get to hot. Or find an indoor attraction.

Misty Mate huh? How does that work for you? I've heard people talk about it but I don't know anything about them.

That is pretty much all we do too!

We grab water when we're hot, but like to pack light in the parks.

If it is a REALLY hot time of the year, we get up and hit the parks early, go back to our resort for an afternoon nap or swim and then back to the parks or PI for a cooler evening.

I just found the website and ordered one - if it's hot in May, it'll go to the parks with me, otherwise, it'll get broken in at Disneyland in July. Looks like a really cool little product - http://www.mistymate.com

They're great. You fill em up, pump the handle and you can either turn it on when needed, or even leave it going with a fine mist. Lowers the temp around you by something absurd like 20 degrees. (I may be exaggerating. LOL I don't know for sure)

Plus with the strap you can attach it to a backpack or a stroller

We pop into the stores to cool down, have an ice cream or my favorite if you are in Epcot ... is Ice Station Cool for some free samples.

I tried a mini-fan once but it got to be a pain carrying it around all day so it wound up in our camera bag most of the time. Now we just carryin littl ebottles of water we freeze the night before and refill them throughout the day. Cool in the begining but refreshing all day.

I bought two missty mates a few years ago. I used them once; they were just a pain to carry. There was no way I was going to snap it around my waist like a butt pack. So they sit in my closet I try and stay cool by lots of water and leaving the park in the afternoon for cocktails and a nap. It so far works pretty darn well. (Especially the cocktails part) :o

I actually have a Personal Air Conditioner from Sharper Image. It works great and it has been all over the world with me. I HATE heat, so it was a godsend in both Florida and at Coachella. When I'm hot, I don't care if I look like a dork - at least I'm a cool dork.

It's in the main entrance tunnel thing. Well... i gues you could call it snow. It's supposed to be. It's more like little piles of crushed ice. And it's not very much. And i haven't been there since last May, BUT i know it's there because my brother threw a bunch of it at me and it was cold!!!
But yeah, i guess you can't really call it "snow."

Yeah, well, each visit last year, I saw no snow. I recall what it's SUPPOSED to be, it just wasn't there. Disney went cheap and turned off the AC overnight and didn't turn it on in time to form the snow the next day. :/

Ive noticed people taking Camelbak Water packs along, These can carry up to 100 oz of water. Sounds cool?
The Reservoirs are replaceable and also washable. Some people freeze them with the cap off.
They have 50 oz, 70oz, and 100 oz packs (real name bladders)
The Water Bite valves are replaceable, the hose from the pack is also,
It also makes you think more about drinking more. Also they have backapck versions for those who need to carry extra stuff (Baby items, purse items, food) Well built also.
1st Amendment-Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Ice Station Cool's snow is no longer in use. It was never meant to be a permanent thing anyway. It was meant as a testing area for use of real snow in an attraction... You might say they perfected it there, and then took it to Animal Kingdom.
