RE: The high speed rail line in FLORIDA

Wasnt there some plan to begin a Florida wide high speed rail that would connect Tampa and Orlando with a stop at Disney World and another stop at Orlando Airport. I heard FL Gov. Jeb Bush pulled the plug on it, what is the status, any news links or info would be interesting.

A FLA constitutional amendment appealed the amaendment for the high Speed rail..... Thus making it be in limbo.. Some people still want it... but the state doesn't have to spend money on some thigns.....

Last i heard it was dead....

I have no proof to back this up, but I'm pretty sure I remember something about how DIsney didn't want it stopping in Disney World, because then people could get on it and go elsewhere, and anyone who's anyone knows that Disney does all they can to make sure that people stay at the resort and are kept at the resort. Once again, i can't back this up, but hopefully someone else heard this and can back me up. Or else I'm just crazy.

Actually the fight was... They wanted it to stop at WDW.. then head strait for the airport then train station....

The original idea of the rail was to move people better.. thus stoping at WDW, USF, & SWO.... THen going to the convention center in Orange County.. then airport then rail station...

However disney would pay or not pay....

        Then fighing happened...

Then the new amendment happened nulling the older one...

Sounds like the problem was Universal was in between DisneyWorld and the airport.

I guess Disney didnt want their guests taking the new train to Universal for the day while staying at Mickey's kingdom.

Actually, the problem was that we have morons deciding on rail routes in FL... High Speed Rail shouldn't stop very often. They wanted it to stop every 2 miles... Disney didn't want it to stop anywhere in Orlando except Disney, then go on to Lakeland. Disney's idea made much more sense for the state.

But Jeb knew we didn't have the money anyway, so it got repealed.

The whole darned state just needs a beeter public transportation system, but that is off subject.

No, the current deal is dead. Maybe it will come back in 10 years or so.

And yes, FL DOES need better transportation!
