  • A little WDW News

Went through the Magic Kingdom last night.

    Here's the news:

Parking has gone up to $10. (Started on Sunday, before it was $9)

Halloween displays are already in various windows on Main Street.

The Railroad Station clock is already green.

Many light bulbs are out on Main Street. Very bad show, IMO.

Park was very clean... didn't see any trash to pick up.

The Castle's gold is starting to come down... the lower spires have all the gold removed.

Jungle Cruise and TTA were open for EMH simply because it is Labor Day weekend. Oddly enough, Cosmic Rays closed at midnight, leaving MK with virtually no food offering after midnight. (Though I believe the Ice Cream Parlor was open until 1am.)

The Haunted Mansion's sound system is on the fritz. In the graveyard, nothing is in sync. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy.

Pinnocchio Village Haus is horrible. After I ordered my food, it took 13 minutes to get it. So much for "quick" service. The food was good though, it's just bad management.

The Riverboat is back... dock re-hab is underway because the new boat is mainly fiberglass, which, as you may know, is lighter than wood. Hence the boat floats at a higher level. Hence the dock has to be built up. Hence why didn't they figure this out earlier? I imagine the budget that was set aside for draining and cleaing of the river has gone to the dock now.

That's all for today. Join us next week where we duct tape alarm clocks to all sorts of stuff.

Fiberglass?? I would figure there would be some wood on it with fiberglass under it all... (then again this boat was originally made by the steel mill according to ledged...)

Thanks for the news...Glad I have an ap with free parking...

In another forum there are pics, but the interesting thing that was pointed out is that where the characters were taken down, there is noticeable patchwork where they removed the supports. In person it's supposed to look worse, but from the pics alone you can tell that something is wrong there. They are planning to repaint the castle too, right?

            Oh dear.
Parking is not good. $10 is terrible for a day.
The Haunted Mansion is gradually becoming one of my least favourite attractions in WDW. It's odd how Disneyland's is properly the best looked after Mansion in the world and WDW's is the worst.
The light bulbs are a minor thing which mean a major thing to me. There is nothing more thrilling then walking down an illuminated Main Street at night and not seeing one bulb gone - it is almost magical because it is such a deal to have every single bulb on. But that's what Disney does, and that's why there shouldn't be more then 10 bulbs out on the entire street.
The castle will be repainted, wonder if they repair the patchwork at the same time though.
Excellent news about the park being clean.
Now the riverboat... is the riverboat fully functioning now? I had no idea it was rebuilt. I thought it was just being refurbed.

That's what i was wondering about too when I first read the post. I thought it was just a refurb as well no a total rebuild.

So is the projection system, the lighting and the scrims are filthy. It's been like this for months at least.

The current plans call for the castle to undergo a complete color scheme rehab, with inspiration from the new Tokyo color scheme.

The boat went in for a normal rehab. It was found that most of the wood was rotting away and some even had termite damage. The rehab was extended indefinately for a major re-build of the boat. The boat is now back in the water and works fine, just at a different level and as a result the dock needs to be re-done so the boat can be used by guests.

Umm, why can't they just ballast the boat like a real steamboat??

There's really no need to rebuild the dock, just weigh the thing down. It's not like it will bottom out or anything. It will be just like it used to be.
