I just read on a Disney blog about a Jack Sparrow character meal survey at WDW. Supposedly Discovery Island would be converted to a Pirate's Cove where guests would dine on the beach with Jack and other pirates. Has anyone else heard about this? It sounds really cool, and if Disney is truly considering this, it would be great.

I only question is one restarant is enough to get folks to the island? I think they will need something more to have enough of a draw to keep it open. Last rumor I heard they where looking at making it into a small honeymoon resort of some sort which would not be compatible with a pirates restaurant if you want to have privacy...Hi I'm Jerren and I'm a Disneyholic...

Plus don't count out the marketing Disney can put behind this. Pirates are hot right now and a good marketing campaign could make even the seasickiest of land lubbers wanna swab the decks for Jack Sparrow. (sorry, that's CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow)
I am optimistic to hear that Disney wants to open up Treasure/Discovery island again. It's a great little piece of real estate that has been neglected for years. A veritable diamond in the rough. Whether Disney uses it for a Pirates themed dinner event or a hidden honeymoon bungelow, I am just glad to hear that they are again considering using the isle!______________________________________________"Screw with my pixie dust at your own peril!" - Mr. Wiggins

This might have something to do with the princess and pirate parties they have coming up in January? It might just be a temporary thing for that. I could see it being done as a dinner show on the beach for this but maybe not as a permanent thing.Originally posted by larasoundam I the burrito man?
