  • Test Track costs extra?

A few of my friends said that Test Track costs extra to ride in addition to gettting into Epcot. I have never been to WDW. Is this true?

    Wrong, wrong, wrong and Wrong!

TT is included in admission as was World of Motion.

That is what I thought! One of them was at WDW in June, and he swore up and down that it was an extra cost. It did not make sense to me that it would be, but like I have said, I have never been. Thanks!

I think your friends may be thinking of the virtual reality thing at the end. I'm not sure what it's called but it's right after you get off the ride. And it definatley costs money.

That can't be right. All that is, is a big commercial for GM's on-star.

As the late Disney magazine put it in their Summer '02 issue:

"On you walk out of Test Track, you might notice 20 curvy, purple chairs swiveling in unison like a futuristic marching band. They're the "cyberseats" for Inside Track - Dreamchasers, a virtual reality ride created by General Motors. With characters Gena and Mo(get it?) as their guides through a five-minute movie, riders glide along floating highways and get caught in a twister."After they get all mixed up from the tornado," says attractons host Mike Misenti,"Mo calls Onstar to find their way back to the highway"

Does anyone else think that they might be getting confused and be thinking about the Petty driving experience that is on Disney property at the Wide World of Sports area? Just a thought...because that definitely costs extra! I haven't been on TT in 7 years so I don't know anything about that area at all.

No, that is not true, but this is: Test Track is the most overrated, least satisfying ride in Disney's history. It's skipable and simply NOT worth waiting for in line more than 10 mins. Do not go out of your way to ride this turkey.

I beg to differ. Test Track is an exhilerating, fast-paced, thrilling automotive excursion. There's a lot I dislike about epcot right now but TT isn't one of them. The maintenance maybe lacking but the ride itself is fun. If SM can be considered a classic at the MK then, TT can be considered the equivalent at Epcot. I would say that the only thing that could be improved upon is the AA amount. Sorry TDLFan, can't let you slide by on this one.

So is I-4 in the late hours of the evening and morning times, and you don't have to pay $72 a day to ride on it. Of course... don't allow yourself to get caught by the highway patrol... You can beg to differ all you want, but TT does not cut it. Never did, and concidering it's "exhilerating, fast paced, thrilling" moments last only 25 seconds of the entire 8 minute experience, is a major flaw in the show. Of course, if some of the props were funtioning properly, I would have a better opinion of the show presented, but right now... TT is an example of a WDW show gone too expensive to maintain and yet an example of how shows are allowed to rot or dimished in quality due to that maintenance issue. HUGE thumbs down from me.

I have to agree with you TDLFAN. Test Track simply does not offer any new thrills to someone who often drives at 80 mph +. And my major complaint is the lack of theming, or at least something visually pleasing. Journey to the Center of the Earth uses Test Track's technology but it's a far superior ride because of theming alone.

Say what you want, TT isn't hated by most. I know I'm not alone in saying that TT is a fun and exciting attraction. I'll just leave it at that.

You are entitled to your point of view of course, but some of us recognize that the Disney difference is all about story telling and themes, to go along with thrills..., and for some of you, thrills are all that matters. TT delivers a bit of thrills and not much theming. I much rather do Soarin' just because in it's simplicity, it accomplishes what it sets out to do.. to offer guests a chance to fly over California in a way many of us will never do, handgliding. The premise of TT is simply one that you can get day in and day out on your hometown roadways and offers nothing that I could consider out of the ordinary. See there I am coming from???

Then there's some of us that can enjoy disney and thrills. I love TT, M:S, and Rn'RC. At the same time, I never forget to go on TTA, COP, POTC, IASW, and HM at least twice. There is a middle ground and it is no more right or wrong than the others.
I never said TT was perfect. I feel that it is enjoyable and anyone who is visiting WDW for the first time should definately experience it. Just so they can say whether they love it or hate it.
Oh well, it's going to end up like everything else in future world: it'll be gone/drastically altered in another 5-10 years.

Oh it's enjoyable but I just think they should've got more bang for the buck, especially considering how much Test Track cost to design! With that in mind, it's definitely one of the better rides in Epcot.

Test Track is fun the first few times, then it just gets kinda boring. I still like how freaked people get during the "crash test" part though... and I love making crazy faces for the on-ride photo.

World of Motion was 1000 times better though. I miss it more than Horizons actually.
