I've got a few rather boring questions about the 20K lagoon area in the Magic Kingdom when it was being used for the character meetings and stuff...and the skyway... 1) Did the lights still come on at night? In many pics I see lights over near the dock and stuff. Did it light up at night or was it dark and creepy? 2) Any lights in the water at all? I'm guessing no. 3) Do the Skyway stations still light up at night? I know the Fantasyland one does as per my trip in June but I didn't notice the Tomorrowland one. 4) Is there ANY truth at ALL to the rumor that the Skyway could come back? (Read it on WDWMagic). As in, ANY POSSIBILITY whatsoever, with safer cabins or something? Or is it a totally not-gonna-happen rumor?

Re: 20k & Skyway questions
If WDW's removal of skyway is as complete as Disneylands, I doubt there will EVER be another skyway. Disneyland removed all the towers and sealed the caverns in the Matterhorn that the skyway use to go through. When I was at WDW a year ago, I don't remember seeing any towers remaining.

Re: 20k & Skyway questions
Skyway systems at Theme Parks throughout the country are/were being removed. After a few accidents and with states lowering the wind resistance standards that would automatically shut down the rides, it became too much of nuisance to parks to keep them running in that a gust of wind could kick in the safety mechanism and shut down the ride leaving guests stranded up in the air.
In many cases, guests themselves made the matter worse by rocking the cages unseating them slightly (very dangerous) between towers, and causing the ride safety mechanisim to kick in at the next tower, in addition to that, some guests found it fun to drop things from the cars to the unsuspecting guests below.
I have seen these rides removed from several theme parks, not just Disney's parks, but parks from Six Flags and Paramount as well. I doubt that we will see these types of rides in theme parks again.

Re: 20k & Skyway questions
SFNE & SFoG still have them. Lots of parks still do...but they are not efficient rides for Disney parks.
And everything is gone that they used to travel on, including the turn around. They are not coming back.
