Theme Song for Year of a Million Dreams

Just a heads up, if you're like me and you love the theme song for the Year of a Million Dreams (as heard in the TV ADs and on the websites), you'll be sure to find it on Universal's "Peter Pan" Motion Picture Soundtrack by James Newton Howard. The two tracks you'll be looking for are "Flying" and "I Do Believe in Faries".

Yes, Disney uses Universal music, it's not a bad thing. And hey, "The Happiest Celebration on Earth" theme was from "Rudy". It's nothing new.

This "Year of a Million Dreams" thing makes me think of all the adults and kids that may be disappointed when they don't get a dream handed to them (let's face it...it's not the Guest's dreams that Disney is fulfilling...it's a pre-selected doohickey of Disney's choice) or their dream fulfilled.

It kinda reminds me of back when Disneyland was doing one of their "Gift-Giver Extraordinare" marketing events where hundreds of gifts were given out every day at the Park. All the lucky folks that won got to walk around with their cool "I'm A Winner!" buttons that Disney gave them along with their gifts.

So some enterprising trouble-maker produced an exact knock-off of that button, except his said, "I'm A Loser!" He handed them out by the thousands and it was really, really funny to see all these park Guests walking around with these knock-off Mickey marketing buttons advertising how many people didn't win.

Something tells me Disney Marketing didn't think it was as funny as everyone else did.

Perhaps this time someone should produce a button that says..."I Must Have Woken Up...Because My Dream Didn't Come True!"

Or perhaps much simpler: "Dream On."

Honestly guys, even though the celebration is just as cooked up by marketing as any other celebration, this one really is planned out pretty well. Yes, there are things I don't like, but the whole celebration really is about returning to "Classic Disney." At least in WDW it is.

I think you are right on! This is not about delievering GUEST dreams, but Disney's. What should happen is guests should be given a vaucher to a Dream Center to select a price from a list that would match the guest's dream.

I don't think I've ever dreamed of getting a golden fastpass honestly. Especially one that is only good once for each ride.

When they return to creating classic Disney attractions in classic clean and maintained Disney parks that feature classic Disney quality CMs and classic Disney Details ... well, then I'll get all hot and excited over their marketing campaigns.

Free fastpasses ... or pins ... or tees just ain't gonna cut it for me.

It's not that... I don't agree with any of that. It's the new entertainment that is coming aboard. That is where I saw Disney going downhill before, and it seems to be getting much better. (Save for HSM)
