  • Man fell off tram at WDW

I just saw on the news that a 50 year old male fell off of one of the parking lot trams.. I didn't catch at which park, but I think it was MK maybe?

edit: here's a link to the story on WESH.com

how do you fall off the tram? the last time we rode it the driver didn't move until the guy at the back signaled everyone was sitting down.

the guy must have stood up while it was in motion.

    hope he wasn't hurt badly.

This is not the first time this has happened, as a child was killed several years ago as well due to injuries when he/she fell off the tram.

That's why they tell people to have their children sit AWAY from the end of the rows! Most of the injuries/deaths that I've seen happen at disney parks has been the failure of people to follow rules, or the failure of parents to properly supervise their children. It's horrible when people are injured at a theme park.

I rode a lot of trams this week in Florida, and I noticed that there seems to be some resentment on the part of the grown-ups who have to put their children on the inside when the kids want to be on the outside. I guess it's just too difficult to manage their children, even when their safety is concerned.

The other problem on the trams (and in the parks, in general) is the unintelligible announcements from cast members with limited English skills. It's hard to follow safety instructions when you can't understand them.

The WESH story specifies that it's the MK (which you can tell from the photo anyway). It also states that the man fell off because he was trying to grab a stroller that had fallen. The spot the tram stopped implies the more gentle curve was where the accident happened; there are much more violent curves and turns on that tram path than this.

actually the news report says that the man jumped off to be helpful with that stroller and ended up hitting his head on the ground.

ok - nice of him to try to be helpful by trying to retrieve the stroller but come on - you're jumping off a moving vehicle???? you're bound to get hurt if not killed.

maybe they should either do away with those things (great convenience for those using them we didn't last trip because we had a stroller we weren't about to fold down) or figure out how to have doors that lock while the tram is in motion - like the rides.

If he jumped off to grab a fallen stroller, then he wasn't following the CM's instructions. They specifically tell you that if something falls off, just wait until the vehicle stops and the CM's will make sure that the item is picked up for you. Some people just don't like to pay attention to these things.

Yet another reason they should close down Mission: Space for good!

What does a man falling off a tram have anything to do with why Mission Space should be closed down?

Sure some people have died on Mission Space but lets remember that all those unfortunate people died because they failed to read the safety regulations that are clearly posted throught the queue.

Perhaps they should post these regulations at the tram stops?

Toruist? Nah it had to be a resident.
                        Growing older is manditory
                        Growing up is however, optional

Because Mission: Space is either the direct or indirect cause of every known injury to every human since we started walking the Earth. If people were meant to be spun around at ludicrous speeds, we'd have been born with top shaped bottoms instead of legs and had puke sacks installed on our chests!

I wasn't aware that the saftey reulations stated that you shouldn't ride if you have an UNDIAGNOSED heart condition.

The tram man was just stupid. I hope he'll be okay.

And how I picked you up and everything changed
                            It was pain
                            Sunny days and rain

Stop closing rides! I knock on wood that I never end up being hurt while on vacation. But closing rides for an unfortunite incident is no reason to pull the plug alltogether. All we can hope is that WDW does an in depth review of said accident and makes adjustments so the likelyhood of it happening again will shrink.
