  • WDW Invasion--Trekkie Dad's pictorial report

From northern California, Jimmie and I joined the WDW invasion. We had an early flight so we booked a park-and-fly from a location near the Sacramento River. That gave us the opportunity to dine at Crawdad's Cantina on the water. Here's the view from our table.

The next morning, it was an early flight out of Sacramento International Airport.

Terminal B is the original terminal. No shopping malls; just business.

At least there was inflight entertainment on the plane. This is the video on the back of the seat in front of me.

Landing in Denver, we had to hoof it from one end of the concourse to the other.

    arriving at

Hey, look at the monorail! Are we there yet?

Not quite. But the Orlando airport monorail has a familiar sounding voice. And the view isn't bad, either.

No need to collect luggage, but we did have to ask to find this place.

Soon we were whisked off to the Beach Club.

Here are some views from our room:

    The inside isn't bad, either.

We strolled to the Boardwalk for an early dinner at Spoodles

And then it was back to our hotel to get ready for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I'll save that for my next post.
Have bicycle, will ride. Finished 2012 with 10,089 miles, 683 hours, and 482,000 feet of elevation gain.
    2013: 201 rides, 8171 miles, 544 hours, 480K feet.
    2014 so far: 7846 miles, 451,000 feet

Oh, DIA!!! How I miss you!!
can't wait for the rest of your report
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Re: WDW Invasion--Trekkie Dad's pictorial report

After dinner, we went back to our room and grabbed our tickets for MNSSHP. We arrived just as it was starting to get dark.

We turned toward Tomorrowland and were greeted by a gigantic Stitch.

I tried calling a couple of Mice Chatters, but no one was answering. Too bad, I would have died laughing had I seen Lindsaybog. Oh, well. Anyway, we decided to ride the peoplemover. (Okay, that's not what it's called here.) Soon after we left the station, it stopped. Here's a shot from the stopped train.

We got walked off the ride.

We next rode Buzz Lightyear (no pix, but Jimmie outscored me) and then headed across the hub,

                        ending up here.

Then we walked into Fantasyland and rode Small World and Peter Pan. Strange that they should be across from one another. Then we saw Philharmagic and positioned ourselves in an open area behind the castle to watch the fireworks.

And don't forget to check out this movie.

Next, I think, we headed for Big Thunder (Where's the goat?), followed by Pirates (Call this a drop?). That put us near the beginning of the parade route. Here are some pictures of the parade:

After the parade passed by, we went out to the hub and watched the end of the parade all over again before riding the "Peoplemover", Space Mountain and Winnie the Pooh. By that time the park was closing and we headed back to catch the bus for the Beach Club to get a little sleep before the next day.
