  • Reflections of Earth - live?

    Hi,

I do not mean to start or support a rumour with this thread. However, a friend of mine mentioned that he had heard Disney was planning a live edition of Reflections of Earth - I can only assume with a live orchestra. Does anyone know anything about this - is it true or false?

    Thanks,
    Tonny

I could not Imagine this happening. The only changes to the show that I have heard of are the Earth Globe upgrade and addition and relocation of certain ALF Systems. Where would the orchestra be placed where it can be viewed by spectators?
RoE is scheduled to run until 2009 and it will be modifed, not replaced. It may have a slightly different title but it will include the word "IllumiNations".

      I actually meant a one-time-only occation.

But anyway, the show is not going in 2007? Wow, great news IMHO. What changes are going to be made to the globe, and what are ALF Systems?

Maybe you are thinking of the Candle Light Processional?
In January, the Earth globe is scheduled for refurbishment. All of the LEDs will be replaced and several lights and other systems will be changed or modified.
ALF stands for Air Launched Fireworks. Disney developed this method seversl years ago inorder to diminish pollution and smoke on the ground. These are used for the perimeter launch tubes around the lagoon.

Isn't that what they do for Nights of Joy? Have a live symphony playing and broadcasted throughout the World Showcase?

Does anyone know exactly when the globe is going down for refurb? I heard that when the globe is out, they fill in the dead spots with MORE fireworks and lasers.

            I must see!

It was originally scheduled to go down in January however, the refurb has been delayed until sometime in February.
I am not possitive of what the substitution would be but I have heard that there will be soome very interesting effectsthat were tested during the Globe-less rehersal a couple of months ago. It will certainly be interesting to see the show with the focal point missing. How can one tell a story about the earth with out the Earth Barge?

                Project it on to SSE.

Unfortunately SSE isn't visible to quite a few of the viewing locations around the World Showcase.

They could do projections on water screens like with Fantasmic.

Put the screens in the center of the lagoon. 5-8 screens all together so everyone has a view.

Actually, the fountains used on ROE have been in use since the mid 80s, and they are supposed to go and be replaced with fountains similar to those used at TS for their shows.. as far as I know.. then again, it could be rumor.

Which, if that rumor takes shape, another one will spark that IllumiNations will end up changing once again for one reason or another to incorporate the water screen projections.
