  • Your Favorite Place to Eat Outside of the World

Where do we like to eat when we are not within Disney property?

I like Texas de Brazil about 13 miles away on I-Drive.

My wife insists we stop at Giordino's at some point.
Be warned: The pizza "looks" small, but trust me, they are so thick that you will end up with leftovers to take back to the timeshare or hotel!

I agree Longhorn Steakhouse is really good. I eat at the one near where I live often and have never had a bad meal there.

I usually end up eating somewhere at Downtown Disney when I visit though. Even just a Hawaiian BBQ from Earl of Sandwich or some fish & chips at the counter service place at Ragland Road are good enough for me. I'm not picky about food.

The best place to eat off WDW is one of the CM's favorite places to eat: The Ale House. There are several of them in town but the closest one to Disney is right behind DTD on 535, accross the netrance to the Hyatt Regency. Good food, affordable prices and great servers.

I ate at a rather nice McDonald's off-site, it was actually cozy-looking, which is odd- cuz it is a McDonald's

Also, I ate at a Pizza Hut, it tasted really good after a 3 am flight and 4 hours at the AK

I think most of the CM's that go to Ale House go there to drink. I know everytime we have a going away, retirement or even Birthday party thing, The Ale House is the place we usually end up.

I've eaten twice at The Ale House, and both times got food poisening, so needless to say I don't go there, at least to eat, anymore.

Orlando isn't the only place that has them, There are several locations in South Florida (Miami-West Palm Beach) as well.

I like Medieval Times, even though it is a dinner show, it has really delicious food.

I'm a big fan of a Tex Mex place called Chevy's down at Crossroads... usually not that crowded and great food for decent prices.

Haha wow. Eww. I don't find Ale House all that great...but I guess to each thier own.

Hmm...out on John Young there is a Chinese Restaurant, I can't think of the name but you get a whole lot of food for a decent price. Can't touch the quality of Chinese food at home...but...its eatable. THough not it tourist land at all!

They have that in Minnesota too. :cwink:

I like Chick-fil-a (the only one in Minnesota is in the Student Union) and CiCi's - both can be found off of 535. I also like this Italian place that I have forgotten the name of now, it's off of 535 and is located over by the Steak & Shake and the Post Office. Help? Another great place is Seasons 52. Oh my.. I hope to go back there some day. :cgrin:

Quite honestly, nothing really thrills me. Being on vacation, I want to eat something different. Comming from the mecca of chain restaruants, nothing is really new under the sun. It's all industrial assembly food. Palatable, but not exciting.

Now, if I could find a local place - even a local dive, that served really good (or even interesting) food, I would be there. But not being a local, I have yet to find one.

For example; there used to be a place up here called Fiesta Hut. The place was a bomb. Ceiling leaked, miss-matched tables, cracked floor tiles, and it was a BYOB and people thought nothing of walking in with a cooler (al LARGE cooler) of beer and sitting it down at the table.

However, the owner used nothing but fresh, from scratch, preperations. You would ask him how hot the green sauce was, and he would say depends on the peppers I bought this morning. Man I LOVED that place. Its now a McDonalds, Fridays, Cheesecake Factory, Pappa Razzi, or some such thing.

Find me a place like that (and it does not have to be Mexican) by WDW and I will stop in.
