  • Who has seen Eisner in the parks?

I was replying to the turtles thread, I remeber that I saw Mr. Michael Eisner up close and personal during my July 1990 tirp. Has anyone else had a Eisner encounter? I hear that those are better than Alian Enounters. ; )

I will upload the pics latter on.

When those funky 75 statues of Mickey were unveiled at the MK at WDW, I did see Eisner there for a while, hanging out around Town Square and doing some press interviews... He also took time to shake hands and sign autographs as he was wisked backstage after the event. I though he looks... a bit skinny.

One of my friend's was waiting for me and my group to exit Indiana Jones at Disneyland and Eisner walked out minutes before we did, and she saw him. It was during Iger's CEOship too.

He wasn't that bad until Frank Wells died. Eisner do some good with the parks.

1998 - 2005 is when Eisner went downhill.

The good things is a lot of Thrill rides at Disneyland and he expanded Walt Disney World greatly.

I came close to seeing him

I was in Epcot at around 8:00 PM or so and there were CM's with the red wands escorting people over toward Itlay. I asked one of them what was up. Turns out some upper level daughter was getting married the next day (At WDW). The rehersal dinner had just been held at the Coral Reef and now they were having dessert on the lagoon by Italy and watching Illuminations - you know, that little lower spot down by the water. The CM said "and Eisner is in the party, he will be comming by too." I waited a bit but was not THAT interested so I went to find a good vantage point.

Had to do a show with him, does that count? I remember clearly him walking up on stage to give his speech when Minnie Mouse opened her arms to give him a hug. He paused, looked at her and walked on by. No hug. This was after he had been on TV talking about being in a limo with Mickey and getting frustrated because Mickey wouldn't talk to him. He kept saying on national TV that "the person inside the costume wouldn't talk to me". I lost all respect for him after that!

Re: Who has seen Eisner in the parks?

I actually saw him being a tourist there once when I worked in the MK (back in the day...early-90's)....
We were all in the castle breezeway dressed in our respective opening number costumes (toy soldiers, reindeer, horses, etc) waiting for the castle Christmas show music to start. You know how they block the breezeway off during the show? (I used to spend lots of time touching the shiny mosaics while waiting that season [oooo, pretty...shiny]) Well we were all standing there behind that dark blue fabric screen they used then to block the view, when kind of sprinting through the lot of us came hand in hand in hand, Micheal Eisner and his kids. They were carrying shopping bags and dressed in tourist gear. He is very tall! They all were laughing and seemed to be having a good time. (I guess when your dad virtually can do anything he wants there, and you also in turn, then a good time naturally follows) They made their way over to the elevator door and quickly disappeared. It was kind of cool. When someone is well known, it is always a surprise to see them right in front of you, if even for a moment. I was never a huge fan of his persona, but he did save the company from ruin, so I guess he isn't all bad.

Ummm I actually saw Eisner in the mens restroom standing there taking a leak in the Feature Animation building at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank when I was working there. LOL. Hey, you asked!

I did later see him outside milling around. He was there for the employee pitch when employees could pitch their own ideas and storylines for Walt Disney Feature Animation projects.

P.S. Working in that building was a dream. I loved my time working there and having access to the studio lot.
