  • Capacity?

I've read several articles/comments about DL filling to capacity and closing the turnstiles, but haven't read much about this happening at WDW.

Does this ever happen at WDW?

    Man, I have NO idea!

My first trip to Disney World was back in 1994 when I was 14 and part of the World Cup was hosted in Orlando. The parks were PACKED with too many people and it was misrable cause the lines were so long for rides, food, stores...everything. We could barely walk. I remember thinking then that they must have let everyone in from the games at one time! lol

WDW does fill, but they usually dont..

what they have been known to do is close when they are at %75 level.. AKA wow.. a 3 hour wait for space mountain.. time to close the gates...

thats just insane - and it's why we NEVER go during high seasons.

we have the luxury of being able to go during the winter so the crowds are pretty minimal.

we went in May last year (06) and said never again. it wasn't' even high season and it was way to busy for us. when we go in Jan or Feb the longest the lines ever are were around 5 minutes - in may they were out the door and around the corner for just about everything - anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes so it was a good thing we weren't going on most rides because of the baby.

45-60 minutes to wait is just to long for a 3 minute ride.

This just happened last week in december. On Dec 27th, both the MK and DAK had to be closed for a few hours in the afternoon after reaching capacity. I know... I was there at the MK and we felt like sardines in the most magical can on Earth.

I've never been in peak season and much prefer early December. I am going to be there in April due to a conference (with a week long side trip to the parks). I am expecting a bit of shellshock due to the crowds, but am trying to be as positive as possible. Just not sure quite what to expect.

It does happen once and a while for instance in the week between Christmas and New Years. WDW also uses the 4 level closing system.

                Re: Capacity?

Walt Disney World is made up of 43 square miles(whole property; not just the theme parks)... a little over 1 billion square feet.

If every square foot of the property(including lakes--lets assume some people can walk on water) were to be occupied by a single person the entire population of North America, Central America and even much of South America, could be there at once.

                ....now that's crowded
