  • New Item at Art of Disney - Skyway to Fantasyland

I was reading Kevin Yee's article this morning on MiceAge and fell in love with the model of the Fantasyland Skyway, which was next to a model of the Nautilus submarine. The skyway model looks very much like an Olszewski piece, but I called the store and it's made by Disney. The piece sells for $75.00 and is about 10" high and 7" wide. That's all the information she had.

I wonder why Disney made this on their own instead of having it part of the Olszewski collection!

Maybe the Olszewski are current rides?

Robert Olszewski contract with Disney at this point does not include any past attractions. He had hoped to do a Skyway piece. As of now it is not something that will be done.

Darn. I'm hoping that the scale and materials used in this piece will be similar.

From the picture the scale does not look the same. Are you collecting the WDW or DL Olszewski pieces?

I'm officially collecting the WDW pieces, but I also gave in and bought the DL Main Street Station ... I loved that piece more than all the others for some reason.

The Main Street Station is a very beautiful piece.

I saw it. It's cute but a bit.. Odd, not sure how. It's behind glass of course so you don't really get the full perspective on it.

I really like the miniature castle, myself, but thanks to the paint job it's already obsolete.

Just a note on the Olszewski collection, which I love but have no room for right now (my bank account is happy!). I recently visited the Disney Character Warehouse outlet in Las Vegas and was surprised to see some DL pieces on sale ... so if you're gonna be in that area and are interested ...

Holy cow, really? What's the Vegas location?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

It's on Las Vegas Blvd in the outlet mall, about two miles south of Mandalay Bay on the right (airport) side of the road. There's a huge sign, so you can't miss it.

The store is run by AMS (same as Fullerton and temp stores) and is permanent.

They also have loads of 50th anniversary merchandise.

And pins, if you're in to them.

It's located in the SW corner of the Las Vegas Outlet Center (formerly the Belz Mall) at the far end of Las Vegas Boulevard South. I haven't been in a while. Sounds like I need to go back.

I saw the skyway piece a couple weeks ago, and it really does look great. The nautilus didn't do as much for me.
