  • Help identifying picture

I picked up this picture today. It is 16x20 and came in a very cheap gold metal frame. It must have originally come new in the frame as it was glued together quite well.

I am trying to confirm when this was. I assume from the 10 in the background that it is WDW's 10th anniversary.

Looks much better now that it has a proper frame:

Also grabbed this phone for $2.00:
Maybe you folks can tell me though. Does gettin' two womenfolk mean you're the winner or the loser?

I had to kill some time this afternoon so stopped by a little thrift store in town to see if they had any paperbacks (They sell them for a quarter). They also had a huge Nemo plush but it was just a little too dirty.

            Love that phone!!!
            Good morning, son
            In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
            It was pain
            Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Does anyone else find the choice of characters for the publicity shot a little odd??

When you think of Disney, the three pigs aren't exactly iconic characters, and hook and smee are a little out of place as well.

We're talking 1981, we didn't even have that many characters in the park back then. I know you're going to get on me for saying that, but I'm trying not to spoil it for the kids. Think about it, and maybe you'll understand what I mean.

OMG!!! *snif*... the memories... This picture was taken during WDW's Tencennial Anniversary (late 81-early 82). The Characters are sitting on opening (1st) float of the Tencennial Parade at the MK. One of the very best parades ever to roll down Main Street FL. This gets to me... can't bear think how wonderful the MK was back in those days...

Yes, that is the closing float for the Tencennial Parade, disguised as a 15th anniversary float. Al Lutz named this particular float the "Character Barge" in his recent WDW trip report. This float still performs to this day, most recently seen as the closing float during the Pirate and Princess Party Parade, Adventures parade. That float is as old as time.

It's in the daily parade now. And yes, it is an old float. But there is a float we have in WDW that is from Disneyland that is even older, and we still use it. Go figure! There's a reason CMs dubbed the 25th Anniversary Celebration's "Remember the Magic Parade" as the "Recycle the Magic Parade!"
