  • Restaurants that don't need reservations?

Are there *any* full service restaurants at WDW that don't need or don't require reservations? Or that you at least don't have to make reservations 180 days out. I'd like some spontaneity during my trip.

sadly, not many... if their are any open spots its in the off season, which barely exists now. If you don't reserve, your stuck with quick service.

All of this is thanks to the Disney Dining Plan (DDP)

That really reallly stinks. I am making reservations for three places, but I'd like to be able to decide on the spot to say, go have breakfast at the Contemporary or something like that. So that can't happen? God. Does everyone robotically plan their meals like this? It's abusrd!

I do this a lot due to the last minute nature of our trips.

Lunch is your best bet, most dinners are sold out. I have gotten into Japan and Canada in Epcot as a walk up before but only during lunch.

If you can decide first thing in the morning where you'd like to eat, stop by Guest Relations and they can reserve you a spot. Usually they also have a sign up stating what restuarants still have room available.

        Hope that helps!

The few that come to mind as usually having last minute availability are Olivia's, Marrakesh, and Cape May (lunch and dinner only).

Does Cape May even have a lunch?

I would try the Concourse Steakhouse, that tends to be overlooked as well, if it still exists.

We've had no problems getting into the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner without reservations.

right when it opens is the best time to go... but i keep forgetting its still open

they open for lunch, around 11:00p.m. I believe. best place to eat outside of a park.. mainly Epcot thats semi reasonable prices.. and has steak

I also forgot about resorts, if you want to wait 30 - 45 minutes the main places tend to have openings... but the wait is killer sometimes.

I am indeed talking about resort restaurants, mainly, here.

the big key is, what restaurants are you looking into, cause the sit downs do get booked up, unless you get to them at opening like I did that one time for the concourse steak house, and buffets have openings, but as i said they might have a long long wait.

breakfast can start as early as 7:00a.m. (depending on the season) and that is when the most openings will appear.

I'd go so far as to say that pretty much all resort restaurants have lunch availability without reservations, with only a few exceptions, mostly hotels on the monorail loop.

Better still, make the lunch reservation on the morning of. Just call 407-wdw-dine.

Dinner: forget it. not gonna happen. I'm about as unhappy about this as you can get. The Dining Plan has ruined everything about dinner. Oh well, this saves me money. I just head off property.

We called on a Sunday morning and were able to get into Boma (Animal Kingdom). We actually prefer having breakfast at the resorts as our big meal. They have all (Boma, Ohana, Whispering Canyon) been excellent and you have the rest of the day to walk off your meal!

I have gotten into Boma before last minute, but that's my only experience with it.

So bascially, a family can't just get up and decide to head over to breakfast at the Contemporary from the Polynesian or vice versa because nowadays you have to micromanage your vacation before you even get on vacation.

And Dinsey thinks this is a fine state of affairs?
