  • POFQ or Riverside?

    Hi all,

My fiance and I are staying at Disney for our honeymoon in late Oct - early November. It'll be the first time for both of us as not a commando-style Disney trip, and we want to relax and explore, rather than doing our usual method of 3 parks in one day.

We're trying to decide between French Quarter and Riverside to stay in, and are stuck. We stayed at Riverside one night and liked it, but would be willing to trade over to French Quarter.

    Any recommendations?

I personally prefer Riverside, but you can always walk to and from either resort as they're connected via walkway and by boat too.

Were staying at Riverside this month and French Quarter in October.

So we'll know better in Nov.

I'm a big fan of FQ. It's pretty small overall, and it does not feel crowded or "crazy" (not alot of kids running around being loud -- a little bit if you are near the pool but not much). I think it was renovated back in 2004 so it should still be pretty "fresh" and clean.

I have no experience with Riverside so I can't compare.

I have stayed at both and I like both. Riverside is spread out and feels more secluded. Especially if you are in a building far away from the food court. FQ is smaller and you are always in the action. The pool and food are close to all rooms. The rooms are the same size and layout.

I say French Quarter by a long way. Here's my review...

I haven't stayed at either, but in doing our research for our Oct honeymoon we settled on POFQ as it looked more romantic, intimate and quite.
I'd say it would be the one to choose if you're looking to relax.

                Re: POFQ or Riverside?

I've stayed at both and for me French Quarter wins for the following reasons:

                1. It's more secluded to where no building is really bad.
                2. I prefer the theme of the FQ to Riversides.
                3. Aligator Bayou reminds me of the movie Deliverance at night, but again that goes back to personal preference.

Now the Magnolia Bend section of Riverside I would stay at again, it was gorgeous with the southern style mansion rooms but if I had to choose, definitely FQ for the intimacy and considering it's your honeymoon, I think its more appropriate.

                  4. Everything is closer together at French Quarter. Not in the bad way, but in the fact you don't really have to hike to the cafe, the lobby, and the bus stop is why it wins for me!

I prefer neither. I like the Wilderness Lodge or DAK Lodge.

No. I am too fat and not attractive enough to have anyone make a pass at me on those woods.

What are you talking about?!! I think your a doll! Your a very handsome man, don't sell yourself short.

Besides if the setting doesn't get you, the ugly room furniture will. Bleh.

I know, I know, some people like that, just not me.

I just got back a week ago from POFQ... it was great.

Everything Close, nice rooms... and you are FIRST on Pickup, and First on Drop Off with the Buses! (They pick up Riverside after FQ, so you will always get a seat at FQ, and most Riverside people will stand, and in the morning, the buses sometimes fill up before Riverside).
