  • Characters in Bloom Weekend at Epcot?

I just got my Mickey Monitor in the mail today and noticed that the weekend of May18-20 is Characters in Bloom at Epcot for the Flower and Garden Festival. Does anyone know what this means? Will more characters be out and about to interact with this weekend? I have always been content with the number of characters I see at Epcot, but will this bring out even more? It just so happens that we just booked a last minute trip for that weekend.

That's exactly what it means. There will be more chances to interact with characters. I believe they did this last year.

I kind of figured that...I was just wondering if anyone had personally been there that weekend. I do recall it being done last year as well but we missed it by a week. Was kind of hoping for some of the more obscure characters...this is the perfect chance to use some of those costumes you don't see very often. For example, In France...bring out the characters from Hunchback. we know they have those costumes...they used to have a whole show at MGM.

Bring the whole family to experience a weekend full of character. More Disney Characters than ever will be springing up all over the park
Sounds like a perfect weekend for me.. if there are more characters than ever it'll be like a holiday party at Epcot. TDLFAN (or others) can you share your experiences with this and what you saw in the past?

I purposely scheduled my trip for that weekend for "Characters in Bloom" as I love interacting with the characters.

Pretty much all it is, is a weekend where they have triple the amount of characters in the park, mostly in World Showcase. The best part is a lot of them are rare characters that are not normally out like Thumper and Marie. Last year I saw Kit Cloud Kicker and Rebecca Cunningham, not too shabby. Maybe Gadget will be out this year.

I avoid EPCOT on those days. Too many bratty children and their pushy parents.

You know TDLFan, not all kids are brats and not all parents are pushy. My daughter likes the characters....if we see one she likes, we get in line and wait our turn behind everyone else so she can meet them. Does this make my child a brat or me pushy? I don't make her meet every character, only the ones she wants and she doesn't kick or scream or inconvenience anyone else to do so.

TDL can be a grouch, you learn to ignore him when he makes statements like that.

He is a doll in real life though, don't let his online persona fool you.

And I for one, believe you to be a great mother with wonderful children.

Mine on the other hand has her moments of bratiness I will admit, although I work hard to nip those in the bud.
