Im right behind you with some gasoline and a torch. I hated stich ever since I first saw the teaser for the original movie...who ever thought Id have to live with the stupid thing all over the parks. It seriously makes me not want to go to the Magic Kingdom (not that IT is only confined to there)

Hey figment1986.

The Stitch overlay speils in the monorails really need to go too. "Welcome to Stitch Kingdom?!!" Not only are they overhyping Stitchs character and his not so great attraction but the decals just look awfull. The monorails are in bad enough shape on their own these days, they didn't need stickers plastered on the sides to attract even more attention to their ware and tare.

hmm.. if the monorails are n a bad condtion.. then maby transit should charge marketing for the right to "rent" this space.. then spend the money to fix them...

I think they're beyond fixing...unless fixing would mean complete stripping of the paint and interior. They're just so dingy. I've got pictures of carpet peeling up in several of the cars as well. You'll see those at d-troops whenever I figure out how to upload the pics from the memory card I neglected to format before I began taking pics.

To keep this on topic...the Stitch decals gotta go!

its a gimmic my marketing class is learning about stuff like this and disney is full of all kinds of this stuff.

The reason Stitch is hyped so much is because Stitch is the last big hit of the Disney animation studios if Atlantis were a hit, Atlantis would have shared the spotlight (not to mention headline a new attraction at Adventureland) with Stitch with all these promotions and stuff.

Also, Stitch is the only character popular enough that can appeal to school age boys with all the mischief and humor involved with him.

From what I see:

Mickey and friends - for the loyalists and all the toddlers

Stitch - for the boys (the ones who love superheroes and hate girly or kids stuff)

the Princesses - for the girls

Pooh - for the toddlers and the girls

they can't use Hercules or Aladdin because they were so last century and most young boys don't really remember them so they use Stitch, the most recent and so far, the most popular character to appeal to boys.

there's also the added bonus that girls find Stitch cute and fluffy, he's the perfect marketing tool.

The Lion King also went through this stage where it was being over marketed, but people didn't mind because The Lion King as a movie followed the new Disney tradition of a perfect musical, You people hate Stitch because he is so ifferent from the usual disney fanfare and yet people still like him.

I really like the movie, but they are just taking this to extremes. All of this marketing ploy to get people to ride an embarassment (SGE) is just ANNOYING!!!

The thing that made me sick to death of stitch and really annoyed me to no end was that not so cute little marketing gimmick of covering the castle in toilet paper. Then to add to that; oh lets show a cutsey wutsey way of vandalizing other peoples property. But its ok you know because its stitch and hes being playful ha ha... just dont do what stitch does boys and girls ha ha. I still cant beleive they did that, I keep thinking it had to be a bad dream, that even disney wouldnt stoop THAT low... toilet paper, something you wipe yer butt with for gods sake covering a national icon! Disney people, for the love of god stop and think before you do these things, and what possible repurcussions your actions may imply. Good God, I am beginning to think they hire zombies in marketing.

I dont have one myself but will dig one up for ya... one of the other theme park sites out there had quite a few... screamscape? I will find it and post the link. It was the marketing gimmick for the opening day of the new stitch escape attraction. After everyone could clearly see the castle was vandalized for the day, they had a little stitch elvis show right in front of the castle. Many thought it a cute idea. I find nothing whatsoever clever or cute about it.

I appreciate that Tigertail! I don't think i find it too cute either. Seems like Disney is trying to tell kids that it is ok to vandalize things while at WDW, and for that matter, when they get home!

some other sites had video of the stage show..... it was strange and all for the media... WTF.... what happened to opening an attraction and having the medis be at the park at night rather than mess up the regular days experance for most guests....
