  • WDW Experimenting with the Monorail

I have not seen it posted here yet. (Is it because it is too minor of a detail)?
Anyway, the center divider of Monorail Lime has been removed and fitted with 4 verticle poles and 2 ceiling hand-rails. This is only a trial version and may be implemented on all monorails if it is a success.
This configuration slightly increases capacity and is now able to fit 2 single or 1 double stroller in between the bars.

Does that mean people will be standing now?
(I'm trying to picture this in my mind )
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

The Mark VI currently allows for a bit of standing room. The Mark VI is much larger than the Mark Vs in use at Disneyland.

While I would prefer a brand new monorail fleet and operation system to be installed at WDW to replaced the currently fleet.. I am glad they are (at least on Mono Lime) taking out that useless center divider, which only served as a climbing play bar for pesky kids with too much caffeine in their system.

Hopefully they can get newer monorails in 15 years, but for now remodeling them to move the center console/unused seating bench is a great idea. it "should" speed it up the line as more strollers would be able to get on the monorails, while also keeping the two handicap cars open for wheelchairs and not as packed.

only the MK station (resort and express) and express line at TTC have the auto gates. the rest have the old slide gates the CMs open.

Re: WDW Experimenting with the Monorail

hey, what was that center divider every supposed to be for? It looked like it was supposed to be benches that can fold down, but they were not functional. Sometimes I would go into a car that had the blue part of the center divider removed entirely.

I think having hand rails is a great idea.

That center divider annoyed me because little kids would hang all over it. But I always thought there was standing room in the first place?
