  • Fort Langhorn, Still Standing...

On Saturday, May 19, 2007 I went to the magic kingdom to take photos of a still standing disney fortress which is used to defend the guests from non existing Indians and an haunted mine.

To get to this fort you must first get to the tom sawyer island landing and wait for a raft, then search the island for this bridge

The bridge to your fort experience.

march less than 500 feet and you will come upon the historic Fort Langhorn

    Complete with authentic tourists

This fort comes with replicas of guard shack and many other elements.

the guard is still sleeping, 35 years later

if you walk too far you will come will come across a blocked gate, what lies beyond is unknown.

no entrance, without the proper key

Barrels lie the other corners of this old fortress

and they come complete with hallow sounds

if you wish to get food, you will have to leave, as this establishment is closed.

but i was thirsty for a good old pepsi-cola

ladies, you will have to use the powder room

just don't strike a match for any reason in here

The mens room is next to a bunch of stairs

    I choose to go right.

    Let's go inside the nest

Wow, watch out what you do with that cannon.

lets up up into the higher area of the nest,

You may now strike a match, its dark in here

look, guns we can shoot with!

    the triggers look nice,

look, i can shoot at a abandoned mineshaft

outside of the nest, nice view

General theming on the ground, with some elements including animals and such.

a classic water fountain and well,

    warm, warm, and warm water

back on the ground, the Indians attacked so we ran out of the fort,

really cramped tunnel in some areas

one of the towers, seen via the escape route

    and thats how it was,

    maybe...

    Great pictorial! Thanks!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

              Thanks,

and im still learning how to control this camera, as you can see some are a little off but thats because im still learning the right amount of focusing needed manually rather than always auto it.. (and it hates auto in the darkness, so I was guessing)

I love that fort. I like shooting the innocent civilians in line for big thunder, those poor fools. Oh well, they should learn not to try to board a runaway train through haunted caverns.

I think it's great that WDW still has its fort and that it is still in good, working condition! I can't wait to check it all out with my kids in November.

                          Thanks for the pics!

I think they should light the fort on fire at night to make up for the cabin no longer working.

Thanks. It's nice to see Fort Langhorn open since Fort Wilderness in DL is being demolished...
