  • If The Lagoon Returns to MK, Should It Have The Little Mermaid Theme?

Well it's previous obvious that everyone would want it to go back to just being 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or maybe a copy of Nemo's in Disneyland but I personally would love a visit to Ariel's kingdom, see real live mermaids in the lagoon and get a beefy merman to play King Triton!

    What do you think?

I'd love to see the lagoon back because it was so beautiful but it could be slightly smaller and just scenery. What I'd love to see is the 20k ride in DisneySea with the lagoon as scenery. If we could get an almost exact replica of that I'd be happy.

I think a Little Mermaid lagoon would be a lot of fun and different from the other parks. Have it be what Ariel's life was like before meeting Eric.

Oh and then they could re-enact that famous scene from Part of Your World when Ariel as a mermaid goes up on a rock and the water splashes behind her. They could do the whole number twice a day, a show on the water in an area that doesn't interfer with the subs moving.

My opinion, creating a ride with a movie tie-in is sort of a suspenders and belt type action.

Create a ride that will stand on its own merits, not one that needs the draw of a movie attraction. Then do the hard work of theming from scratch, not just slapping up Flounder et al all over the place.

Why waste your time fantasizing over something that won't happen?

            Ever.

I don't know... because I can. It's just a fun chat. No need to help bury the idea 10 feet underground. What's wrong with you? Get happy about fun ideas that some people have.

The Little Mermaid theme sounds like a good idea. It would certainly fit the Fantasyland theme. However, I seriously doubt that the lagoon will ever come back since the entire area has been gutted and replaced with a Pooh playground.......

Don't worry about it. [Sarcasm on] He's just upset that nobody has ever named a ride after him. So, I'm gonna make that suggestion right now. How about the Finding WDW1974 Submarine Voyage. A fun ride like that would be totally sweet! Definitely worth bringing the lagoon back for. Doncha think so? Doncha? [end sarcasm]

instead of putting back the lagoon, I would love to see the ride WDI developed for the Little mermaid, There is plenty of room for that ride and another one and you might even be able to keep the thoughtful spot, eventhough I would love to see that go.

Not quite. The area has been gutted (filled), but the Restful Spot only takes up a very small portion of it. There is a lot of room back there. Besides, the restful spot could be removed quite quickly with a D8 Cat

I've always heard that Poohs resftull spot was always meant to just be temporary anyhow. It's a placeholder as I understand it, until a new E-ticket can take that whole area. The little mermaid dark ride was a fun C-ticket ride, but the MK needs another E-ticket, not another C-ticket there, and thats a perfect place for a wonderful one.

MK has more e-tickets than any of the other parks. So I wouldn't mind a mermaid ride there. Though I would prefer it over next to the Nemo musical
