  • The Future Legacy of the Legacies

    According to Disney:
Although the Millennium Celebration has ended and you can no longer build a living family tree online with Disney.com, you can still leave your own imprint for future generations through the Leave a Legacy Sculpture in Epcot. When you participate, your image is etched in steel and incorporated into the new Leave a Legacy Sculpture at Epcot's threshold. To learn more about the Leave a Legacy Sculpture, click below.

If you have questions regarding your Leave a Legacy website, please call Customer Service at (407) 560-7235 or email wdw.ec.legacy@disney.com.
However, the Leave a Legacy information out front of Space Ship Earth has been under construction walls over the past days. I had heard that the Legacy program was going to end on June 16th, 2007. If this is true, then yesterday was the last day to purchase your stamp-sized legacy. However, the web site implies they are still for sale.

Can anyone clarify this for me? And if so - what's next and what will become of these legacies? I realize they will be there for at least 10 years - but why are they ending this now? Does the new Simens sponsorship have something to do with this?

All I want to know is...

When do they remove the tombstones?

Well, I think they'll exist for as long as legacies are supposed to.

This is one such exhibit that needs to go to Yesterdayland, much like the self-centered Person of the Century poll that only lasted like... 2 years and was promptly removed without telling us who won't the honor? I would have prefered they had finsihed the walk around the World at the Seven Seas Lagoon instead... and that is now history too. So many bad projects/decisions by bad managers who are sadly still among the rank, making bad decisions still.

We discussed this elsewhere, and discovered that the contract allows them to be moved anywhere, they dont even have to stay on the tombstones.

I know. Too bad! Need to get rid of the cemetary at the entrance to Epcot though. IMHO, those things really, really spoil an otherwise great area.

            Just MHO, YMMV

The actual Leave a Legacy monuments aren't going anywhere. However, the little kiosk at the mirror column under spaceship earth has been/is being removed. Also, sales of new legacy images will cease (if it hasn't already).

Within the next year everything from the Millenium Celebration redo will be removed.

                  Thank The Lord!!!!!!

Eventually, all of the mistakes made by disney in the past 10 years will either be removed (lal, wand) or be redone into something closer to disney standards (DCA)

There are big plans for Epcot Center at Imagineering. Everything from japan...to imagination...to SSE.
