  • Epcot Stilt Walkers Backstory?

Back in 1999 and 2000 (maybe 2001 also) there was a group that entertained around the World Showcase. I believe they were called Avaitors (or something, what was the name??).

Anyway, they were a strange group, a person who looked like the "handler" for the stilt walkers had a half-globe for a hat (helment) and there were three stilt walkers dressed like, maybe birds or something.

    Great act!!

What was the name of the act?

Was there a backstory for this act?

    What was it?

    Thanks,

    CU@DL

I remember seeing them a couple of times. They were pretty neat. I also liked the Alien trio that performed by the fountain. I don't know either of their back stories but would be interested to find out more!

I remember those guys from the millenium celebration. I guess they were pretty cool, I don't have much of an opinion. I don't think there could have been much of a backstory...

Well, I found something on Steve Soars archive pages. It is several great photos of the act and a simple one line...

An astronomer leads a trio of butterfly people around the World Showcase.

There must be more than this...

I believe they were Russian performers under a short term contract at EPCOT Center. That is the story I heard from a CM some years ago. Personally, I thought the whole act was dumb and am glad they got the pink slip.

I found some more information, not easy, I was hoping someone here remembered back that far. Apparently they were ony ther 1999 and 2000.

Anyway, the other story I found is:

An astronomer leads his three winged, nomadic adventurers who can instantly transform into butterflies, angles or villains.

It just seems that there be more to the story.

I always thought they were interesting, a little quirky, but still interesting.

They were insanely hard to work with, and they were a very odd group. (Which can be expected with those type of acts in entertainment anyhow) But yeah, they were cool, but, umm, don't expect them back anytime soon. Heh heh.

After being gone for almost 6 years I don't expect that they are still even doing the act. I was just wondering if anyone knew the story they were trying to tell with their performances.

Very, very quirky, I have some video, and some of the story (posted earlier in the thread). I was just hoping for more of the story that their act portrayed.

Why were the three nomadic winged creatures following the Astronomer?

Why did they change to butterflys, or angels or villains?

What was the astronomer's story, where did he find the creatures?

The act appeared to be a play, must have been a story.

                Oh, well...
