  • WDW/DL Ride Differences

I live in California and have been to Disneyland many, many times, but I just went to Walt Disney World for the first time this June. I couldn't help but noticing that many of the rides that are at Disney World and Disneyland seemed completely different. For those of you who have been to Dl and WDW, did you notice this too?

Yes, many rides are very different. Which rides stood out the most to you?

I like that the rides are different. If they were exactly the same then why visit the other park? A little variety is always nice.

        Well, for instance-

On Splash Mountain the Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah scene seemed shorter

On Pirates of the Caribbean, the waterfall is in a different place and there's only one (two at DL), and there are two loading platforms (one at DL)

        And a few others...

        How about you?

            1. Space Mountain: DLR has double seater and only one track. MK has single seater and two different tracks. And after the refurb at DLR it runs much smoother than MK.

            2. Splash Mountain: MK double seater, longer ride. DLR single seater, shorter ride.

            3. Pirates: MK longer more extravagant queue, shorter ride time shorter drop of which there is only one. DLR shorter less interesting queue, blue bayou portion at the beginning, much Much longer drops of which there are two, the ride is about 6 minutes longer than MK.

            4. Big Thunder: Very similar, only really noticeable difference is the little mining town / geyser part at MK.

            5. People Mover: Still runs at MK. Still an eyesore at DLR.

            6. Haunted Mansion: MK more time spent in "Doom Buggy" on the ride itself. DLR outside looks a little more spooky (in my opinion).

There are many more rides that differ park to park, but I think these are the most noticeable differences ride to ride.

I would be curious to know the differences in the Peter Pan rides (my personal favorite).

Yes, I did notice that DL was better than MK. Shocking, right?

Peter Pan is so much better in Disneyland. In the Magic Kingdom, you fly over London but not Neverland - how disappointing! The only advantage MK has over DL is that the pirate ships move on a conveyor belt and the ride has FP so the line moves faster.

FP makes the line move slower...

Well Pirate's is better at DL, because its twice as long.

The HM is better at DL, until MK's opens back up

Space is better at DL, and will probably always be better.

I think DL rides are much better lol.

Agreed. Which I why I haven't ridden Peter Pan in years. I'm not waiting 90 minutes for that. And I only used FP for rides I really want to ride and I'm on a time crunch.
