  • Canopies To Be Removed from Future World and More

As filed and as mentioned a while back, the canopies in FW are to be removed.

Also, as mentioned a while back, a temporary, pre-fabricated food service building is to be installed in the American Adventure most certainly for the Food and Wine Festival.

Also worth noting, polycarbonate barriers are to be installed around the seawall launch tubes for RoE. I assume that this is a safety precaution. One thing that is strange is that the location for the modefication is for the China pavillion. I guess that they will be fabricated at the drydock and then installed around the lagoon.

    *EDIT*

Upon further review of the FW canopy permit, it is unclear whether all of the canopies are to be removed.

Re: Canopies To Be Removed from Future World and More

I first saw Epcot on the Disney channel back in the day when I was maybe 5 years old. I even got a book that year that talked all about the park. I still love this park, but I was always bothered that what I have seen didn't completely match the initial childhood images I remember. Thankfully it looks like maybe at least some of the look will be returning with this following the Wand and such.

The title of this thread is very misleading. The only canopies being removed are those by the Fountain View. The canopies installed for the millennium celebration are not being removed.

Thanks for that Mikey... although this release states from the official records that only the Fountain View Cafe canopies are being removed, no one said that the others are not being removed. You're making an inference.

Now, I'm not making an announcement saying that the other canopies are being removed as well at the same time, I'm simply saying that it's not out of the question... because, honestly, we really don't like them. It's only a matter of time and money until they are removed. But they will be removed eventually.

No, I am not making an inference. There is nothing in that permit says anything about the other future world canopies. Now saying that they will come down would be making an inference.

You said they weren't. You have nothing to base that on other then the fact that it's not filed in that particular permit.

I'm telling you they will come down. Just not immediately. And I'm not inferring anything, because I know.

Yes, I miss read the permit at first but then edited my post to reflect my mistake. For this permit, only the Fountainview canopies will be removed. However, it was mentioned a while back that all of the canopies would be removed.

Only concern about this that I have is shade, or lack thereof once the canopies are taken down. Any word on if that area will remain open, or be covered by something else? Not that it's a huge deal - can always duck into a nearby building if the sun gets too unbearable.

Is it that big of an issue? It's an area you pass though, not one you really stop in.

There's always the 'tunnels' on either side- next to Mousegear and next to Innoventions.........

edit* unless you mean the Fountain View canopy specifically....

I've never felt any sort of difference walking around under the canopies. In terms of weather and comfort, the big culprit is the humidity.

Just thinking about that area and how it's laid out, I agree that lack of shade there really isn't that big of an issue. Getting into shade doesn't do much when there's 90+% humidity. Nevermind!

I guess if you like warped chekerboard shade then the current setup is ok, but I prefer either complete shade or none at all
