After visiting the Haunted Mansion today, I've made some observations:
In the queue, the fans are working, they just stink. I don't think anything can be done to fix them, the grillwork in the queue is what prevents them from creating a breeze, so, just get used to the fans not working in the queue. No clue what's happening with the misters.
In the final part of the queue before you go inside, there are lights above that use yellow gels to make the lights appear old and yellowed. They recently replaced the bulbs with energy efficient ones, and they totally messed up the gels. The gels simply need to be replaced as soon as possible.
Also, trees need to be added to block Guests from viewing the show building. It is extremely obvious, and it needs to be fixed. I don't care what needs to be done to be sure the trees remain stable in a hurricane, they just need to be replaced ASAP.
Upon entering, everything seems to be perfect. Some commented on sound leaking from the stretch rooms into the first waiting room, but I don't think it's a problem. All that can really be heard sounds like thunder, and that is to be expected and fits in with the show of the mansion... that there is always a storm outside.
The stretch rooms seem almost perfect, but I'd like the sound of the bats to move down much lower... and the wind should be a tad louder. And the lightning effect needs to be upgraded with a few more strobes or more powerful strobes with more frequent flashes. Other then that, they seem to be almost perfected.
I have been informed that the portraits in the loading area will never re-gain their "following" eyes, and they will not have any changes made to them. The eye cut-outs have been replaced with canvas painted eyes.
More spider webs are present throughout the attraction, which of course, is a welcome change.
Leota's Room seems perfect in every way possible.
The ballroom NEEDS LOUDER AUDIO. I can barely hear the organ when I'm at the left side of the room (where the organ is) and I can't hear it at all on the right side of the room. Must I remind everyone that there is glass present in the room, which can direct sound waves in the wrong directions?! Anyhow, the sound needs to be much louder, plain and simple. Everything else seems perfect in that scene.
The attic is still not working properly. The bride is too blue, and the heads on the portraits do not appear and disappear.
Finally, in the graveyard... it's perfect. Every element was working. Animated properly as well. And no one seems to notice that the scrims have a decent hole in the middle behind the tomb... but it makes sense where it is. Kudos for hiding it so well... but not well enough for the eyes of Bill... WU HA HA HA HA.
Everything beyond the graveyard works as it should, though some torches need some attention.
And finally, the question on everyone's mind... the ring is permanently gone. The bricks were even taken out and replaced with new bricks in the pavement. WDI never approved of the ring story, and this cements it... quite literally I might add.
So, that's all for now! Take care everyone, and enjoy the Mansion... now that, dare I say it, The Haunted Mansion in the Magic Kingdom Park is without a doubt, the best Haunted Mansion in the world. (Though Phantom Manor in Paris still has a better soundtrack. )
